the price of .308 has me second guessing....

buying a m1a, 550 bucks a thousand for cheap military ammo is getting outrageous, i am half way there in saving for the one i want, but i can buy a rra ar right now, and afford to shoot it with out reloading

what do ya think?

    I'd get the RRA for now,.......another ammo increase coming in September, and I don't see an end to it any time soon.
    Iraq,......but largely the Chinese, and to some extent India, driving up the commodity prices, will not go away overnight.
    I'm gonna start reloading again!

    I havn't checkes current 308 prices but has anyone here tried the Wolf 308 ammo?

    The thing to do if you really want a M1A, and I know you do since everyone needs one [:D], is wait. I would stock up on all the .308 ammo and/or reloading supplies you can now. There is very little chance of the price of that ammo coming down anytime soon. The prices of used .308 rifles is falling like used SUV prices. People can not afford to shoot them so they are selling them for things they can get cheeper ammo for.

    The other thing to stock up on now is mags, they are cheeper now then they have been in a long time. Here is the best mag vendor out there right now http://www.44mag.com/prodinfo.asp?number=CM20 . I have got 30 from them and read any web board about them and the feedback is at least 100%.

    Last fall I sold my Semi M60 [V] and ammo price was one of the reasons. As prices on ammo went up and up it became less fun too shoot, and I needed the extra cash for a house down payment. I would not have sold it just for the house but lots of little factors made me give it up. Of course in this case I did make money on it [:)].

    Now just to get you motivated here is a pic:

    It is a Springfield with the "factory" 6x scope and Versa-pod. I picked it up last fall used for $1200. I haven't put but about 60rds through it since I moved I can no longer shoot in my back yard. I have a fair stash of ammo but it all needs delinked, and I have tons of LC brass to load [:D].

    after years of being nagged by a friend i am acually going to do the reloading thing. i believe it will be 30-06,243, and 2 hornet for me.
