The sad reality is that Religion has killed and harmed more people in the name of a "God" than any other force on the face of the earth.[:(][:(]

Yes, the choice is totally mine...and you posting it in CAPS does little more than make you look like the people cactuspete1 was referring to in his post.

    BTW, it's spelled judgement[:)]

Needmyguns posts like that in all uppercase because of an eyesight problem that he has. Seriuosly.
But it is true that a living, loving, relationship with Christ cannot ever be forced or even really suggested with much effectiveness. It's each mans decision to make. I'm happy to share my story with people but ultimately it's the individuals choice. Some dislike the church because many over the years have tried to force others to "believe".

    Actually--and more properly--it's spelled j-u-d-g-m-e-n-t, but I'm not judging...just observing. [;)]

OK, if the man has an eyesight issue, I apologise.

I still don't agree with his POV, but that's his right to post how he feels as much as it is mine to disagree

    Ramtil...I'm grabbing a dictionary...

I think this is partially correct, but I believe the ones that are truly anti-God/anti-Christianity (the folks that seem to spew hatred towards Christians), are probably that way b/c they've already made their decision...and consciously or subconsciously they know it's the wrong decision...they are just too proud to admit it.

Hmmm, this thread talks about Islamofascists and an idiot kid who thinks he's cool throwing a pie at Santa. But what really gave me the chills is the post from Skyking. Gotta get those meds lined out, Sky.

I am a Christian. Wasn't born that way, but got there the hard way. I believe God expects me to share the joy I have knowing Him with others. Basically, it is why I believe the world exists. You don't like it, I won't push it. But don't blow me up and don't throw a pie in my face.

For the record, if I was that Santa I would have picked up one of those four-foot candy canes and beat that smarta** kid within an inch of his spoiled little life.

    ECC -

I try to keep my religious views (or lack thereof) out of a thread, unless it's a question like "do you believe in God" or something like that. I replied to cactuspete1 post that religions has been at the root of many, many wars over history, and I agreed.

The reply from ineedmyguns was a little out of left field IMHO.

But I know you to be a religious man,so mabye that is coloring your post as well

True, and some are mad at GOD for whatever reason. And have had much hardening of the heart and spirit. There is a difference between an atheist and a person who hates Him and His people. An atheist merely knows that he personally has never met GOD, and believes that He doesn't exist. The other has much hate and anger which is easily seen. Kinda breaks ones heart really.

Whether Christians, are the prosecutors or prosecuted, it seems to me that the actions of a demented individual, while tragic, cannot be construed as meaningful, or emblematic of any trend in society. Just as no one would mistake Civil Rights for a Christian.

It is sad those people died.

I have roundly criticized Islam here, and will continue. I don't trust Islamists one little bit, even the ones that claim to be peaceful, since they remain silent while their not-so-peaceful brethren commit atrocities.

I think you mainly refer to an anti-Israel, pro-Palestinian member who hasn't posted here in a long time.

1.) Shows how close that particular member (WHOSE NAME SHALL BE HELD IN ETERNAL REVERENCE AND ESTEEM LEST BY MENTIONING IT WE UPSET HIS PRECIOUS HUMORS, AMEN) is to your thoughts. [}:)]

2.) I was referring to the culture and intelligentsia and media AT LARGE within our society, not to any one person or poster.

    Whoa, wicked!

uh huh.... how about asking them what they think. you might find that they actually think differently than you do. what a concept.

for example, you can start off by asking me. do I think that "subconsciously I've made the wrong decision" and I'm too proud to admit it?

    No.

even if that were the case, would it be the reason why I might "be that way" (see the quote)?

    No.

Am I "mad at god" and have had "much hardening of the spirit" against god, blah blah blah?

No. see the last two no's. I don't believe in it in the first place.

I would, however, be discontent with, and "hardened" against, foolishly misguided christians who use their own inane beliefs to theorize why I wouldn't believe in their inane beliefs (and everything else too while they're at it), while ignoring the arguments I would have against their inane beliefs.

This wasn't directed towards you in particular Buschmaster, it was just a generalization. I apologize if I insulted you. Or anyone else for that matter.

But will you allow them to believe as they wish? This is my only issue. Some here want to insult (ie. "insane beliefs") and in some cases even refuse Christians the right to believe as they do. If so, you must admit that you do not allow that constitutional right (of freedon of religion, be it one or none) to the Christian (belief) while you demand it for yourself (non-belief).

    See the double standard?

Bushmaster...although you claim not to be a Christian, I do not believe you would fall into the category I was speaking about...I do not believe I have seen you exhibit an extreme hostility towards Christianity...as some have done. My comments were a generalization of a behavior seen in certain individuals...and were not directed at anyone specifically.
