Your personal Glock testing
I came across some deals on ammo that were too good to be true, and indeed they were, because all of it was sold out, so I decided to put my money towards a Glock 26 instead. I just picked it up and had some night sights installed last week, and I love it. The size is just perfect, and I got it for a lot less than I had planned. So, my question to all you Glock owners, what kind of tests have you put your Glocks through? I chose the Glock mostly because of it's size and availability of accessories, but also because of it's known ability to survive anything. I got this Glock so that I could bring it anywhere I go should I travel to the mountains, beach, or anywhere else. I have heard about it being able to survive harsh conditions and still be able to function, but I was wondering, can it survive these conditions and still look new, or at least somewhat new? Share your experiences and pictures here if you have any.

just the usual muddy atv expeditions. i put it in the sink, run water on it and brush the mud off/out of it, then oil everything up and it looks like it did when i bought it.0 -

i have never owned a glock but i have shot them many times. i have never shot a glock more than 50 rounds without it jamming. but the asian gang kids in my nieghboorhood seem to like them. 0 -

My Glocks work great, shoot well, rarely jam. But I can't hit crap with them at the indoor range. I have changed the sights and am going to install a long wolf barrel and maybe a 3.5lb disconnector and see if that helps.

btw, if I can hit a microwave at 50 feet, but probably won't need it for anything under 15 feet too fast to use the sights anyways, that's good enough.0 -
I have a Glock 19 I just fixed a spring in it. Other then that I've never had any problems with them and they cycle any kind of ammo I've thrown at it. 0 -
Although I honestly prefer Sigs I own several Glocks and have shot at least 10,000 rounds through my first G19 and never had a single failure. I have shot thousands of rounds through my others as well with no failures. I feed them right and always keep them clean. I can't say that I have run any torture tests though. 0 -

20,000+ round, all rapid fire not one{1} malfunction, thousand's of draws and reloads with very little wear showing only on the barrel hood0 -

I never experienced alot of jamming though.
But I can't hit crap with them! That funky double trigger is the only thing I can come up with as to why! I have never found a glock that I like the trigger on!
And although the glocks I have shot did not jam alot the Jennings that I used to own jammed even less that any glock that I ever shot!0 -
I just shoot them alot, no reason to "torture them"

I have seen a glock that had like 750,000 rds thru it, traded in on new generation, retested and still meet all requirements of accuracy and reliabilty of dept!

My Jennings in the close to 10 years and thousands of rounds that I had it never once jammed!
And only ever had one problem and that was a broken fireing pin about 3 months before I sold it (that I fixed without a problem).
The only reason I got rid of it was that I never shot it any more and it was just collecting dust.
The person I sold it too is very happy with it as well!

If you are experiencing "jamming" problems with a Glock, 99% of the time it is shooter related. The other 1% is ammo related. If you find that "you can't hit" with it, you are not working the trigger correctly. It does take some time to adjust to the trigger pull of the Glock, but once you get the hang of it, you can hit what you are aiming at. We had to qualify out to 50 yards on a silhouette (sp?) target with them and you can place all of your shots in the chest area with practice. 0 -

One thing that I have found I really like in my Glocks is the 3.5lb trigger. I was having trouble with my follow up shots, that cleared it up. They are less then $20 and take about 15 min to put in. 0 -

That's what I was saying! I did put thousands through it with no failures at all!
And the guy I sold it too says he shoots it all the time as well with no problems!
At around 10000 rounds is when the fireing pin broke but that was a $2 part to fix it!0 -

I bought a Glock 26 two years ago, had Meprolite sights installed, then a ported competition barrel. I've put well over 1,000 rounds through it, mostly Remington ball ammo. I use HydraShok 124 +P+ to carry and usually shoot both mags out every 90 days and refresh with two spare Glock mags. My sons shoot Glock 17 and 19, the only jam either one has ever had was CorBon 147gr in the model 19. The son with the OSI has to carry the Sig issue but always carries his 19 off duty. The Air Force is starting talk about letting the OSI go to Glock 30 (.45 AGP).
My collection used to include shooters by Kahr, H&K (a new one on the GB auction now), Ruger P85 & P95, Seecamp .380 (overpriced) and Browning HiPower in .40.
The H&K, Browning and Kahr are great, in that order, still have first two BUT: if you want to ride on a 4 wheeler all day and have your pistol clogged with mud, back over it with your Z71, rince it out in the nearest stream- the Glock is the only one that will still shoot. About 20,000 rounds thru a model 17, it may have jammed twice 0 -
I have shot the 17, 19, and 21. I had jamming issues with the 17, but it was also a range rental gun which I'm guessing is why because I've heard nothing but good things. And it wasn't shooter related because my stepdad had the same problems. I prefer Sigs though to be honest. 0 -

...Kev, that is a relevant statement. At $2 for the firing pin...the firing pin cost 3 times what the jennings cost new! I'd never replace a part that cost 3 times of the original purcahse price of the gun, just chunk it and buy a new gun...[8D]0
