North Carolina Gun Laws

Gun laws are few and far between here in NC.
Private citizens can sell rifles with no restriction.
You are required to have a pistol permit to buy a pistol from a private individual. However, this law is not enforced. When you see an ad for a pistol in the paper, about 1/3 of the time it will say "permit required."
The other 2/3 don't know, or care about the law.
I live in the Asheville area. We have a local "trader" newspaper, named the IWANNA. It is sold in all the 7-11s for a buck. Every week, there are about 500 guns for sale in there. It is the greatest gun marketplace in want ads I have ever seen.
Come on down, this is a great state.

As Allen said they are pretty lax on the laws.

Also if you get your CCP you do not need a pistol permit.

Not so liberal about class III though. I live south of Ashville in Highlands, Macon county and sheriff will not sign off for purchase.

Why around Raleigh? Or do you allready have work lined up?

When I moved out this way from California I too was thinking North Carolina. But after I started looking closer I chose South Carolina but just across the state line from North Carolina.

I am only 20 miles from uptown Charlotte (less than that to the southern end of town) the cost of living is alot cheeper than in North Carolina but I have the large city within a stones throw if I need anything that I cannot get in my neck of the woods.

I have not been too inpressed with the area around Raleigh from what I have seen. But I also have to be honest and say that I have not looked around there much. When I moved here I wanted near Charlotte as my brother lived there before I moved out this way and I wanted to be fairly close because of that.

Not all CLEO's are tough on class III. Mine is great as was the one before him. Kick-a$$ state RKBO orginization is Grass Roots NC (GRNC.org) Try to hold annual machine gun shoots for pro-gun candidates. Good hunting, great fishing (fresh and ocean)(don't know why I can not use the compoumd word made with salt and water without auto-censor turning it into a jumble) State taxes pretty darn tough for a southern state....aka Dems in charge. Votes right presidentually though.

...if you move there, be sure you dont let any of your children pick up on there traditional habits...like brothers marrying their sisters and mothers marrying their sons and stuff; that kinda stuff tends to breed kids that are like the banjo boy in Deliverance...[:D]
