Tennessee Mother Makes Daughter Stand on Street Corner Wearing Sign Listing Bad Behavior
MEMPHIS, Tennessee - A Tennessee mother fed up with her daughter's misbehavior took an unusual tack in for latest punishment, making her stand on a busy street corner with an attention-getting sign.
Tashara Wilkins, 13, held a sign Sunday reading, "I don't obey my parents, I'm a liar. I steal from my mom. I have a bad attitude."
"All other resources haven't worked, so I'm making her be publicly humiliated today," mother Cherie Wilkins told WMC-TV in Memphis. "I hope this works for her. I love my child. ... I could be beating her to death, but I'm not."
She said her daughter's bad attitude Sunday morning led to the public display.
Tashara said having to wear her offenses was eye-opening.
"It might even work," she said. "I'm gonna start (behaving better) because I don't want to be standing out here with everybody looking at me like I'm crazy with this sign."
The mother said her daughter would go to church Tuesday night wearing the sign.

...I have NO problem with this at all. Then there will be those that whine about how "hard" and "humiliating" (AND!?) it is for the child to do this; well how "hard" will it be if the child is not reigned in and is sitting in prison at some point in their life!
...A lot of young parents, liberals I suspect, make up a big percentage of the "I want to be your friend" parents. Screw being their friend! A parent should guide and nuture a child, not give in to be the child's "best friend".
...If your child grows up and has never been pizzed at you, the child is either a rare anomoly as children go and understands the "parent/child" relationship (yeah right!) or the parent did not do their job as a parent.
...I like most people learned actually how smart my parents were, the older I got. My daughter is now grown with her own family, and I cannot count the times she has thanked me for not giving in and accomodating her to "be her best friend"...there's plenty of time to be their "best friend" once their grown...[^]
