    The one I took, while boring to anyone other than a novice to firearms, was run professionaly. Our range was Jim Clark's shooting range and the range instructor ran it meticulously, with plenty of coaching for the begining shooters.

    Congrats on your pending CCW.[8D]

    Really sad to hear about your bad experience ...what a shame , I would say you need to put your thoughts into a letter and send it off to the instructor ...
    I taught the 'firearms' class a few weeks back @ the 'citizens police academy' that our dept. has each year ...A very good experience ...
    Thanks !!!

    Congrats on getting your CCW Elk! Mine was very impressive. Every Fri. nite from 7:00 till 10:00 for five weeks. Very professional, and included handgun defensive shooting training. We even had the D.A. come in on the last nite and explain the legalities for about two hours.

    I too think its great that you are getting your permit. Sorry to hear that the class was not up to specs.

    My first class was mostly about legal repercussions of pulling a gun. I later took advanced classes from a training expert in the area to get a better perspective. I had had hands on firearms training in the military and through a sheriffs dept class in LA.

    You might be well served to take some advanced classes later on.

    And to put it mildly, I was not impressed. Unprofessional and borderline un-safe, the instructor spent more time demonstrating his quick draw technique and pimping his 8 week advanced course than anything else. The "range" (i.e. mound of dirt) we used was in a very high traffic area. I'm sure it was fine 15 years ago but not now. If this was representative of the level of instruction that is available nationwide we are in deep trouble.

    I am concerned a wee bit about instructor certification myself... Some are real good for sure...Some well... you have it first hand.

    I'll be putting in the application on Friday. Looks like it is $150 but I'll post if it is different.

    I took my CCW class over the internet from this man...Cool B Rapper Paq R, a self taught expert in gunology, (I thinkthat's what he said). I highly recommend the course. For only $450 he teaches how to wear a gun in a hoody, make very intimidating finger signs and safety...like "never bust caps at ya Own Ho!" He can found at WWW.gettogatgetsome.com

    editorial note;
    I changed pics due to size, but I am amazed at how many white people post pictures of themselves made up in gangsta uniform. Incredible how foolish they look.

    ...Well that bites Elk! I have been fortuanate to have the same instructor from the very first class and my last two renewals; very proffessional and a nice guy, not a clown.

    ...He makes it not "too" boring for those with common sense, and gun knowledge. I guess you got the clown, sorry...[;)]
