Dove decoy use ? cheap buys ?
I always see that if hunting shows are dove hunting it's always Texas or south somewhere.
Do you guys use decoys stands ? or is it just a natural flight pattern ?
We use sunflowers here and do good, but it has to be mowed over before hunting season starts.
Will the decoys keep them interested ?
And cheap buys on decoys down there you guys know of ?

My brother in law's father bought some cheap plastic decoys and made his own mojo dove. They seem to hit em' pretty hard, and I'd imagine just the regular decoys would work fine, when ever they light out where we hunt you can bet others will follow. 0 -
I've heard the Mojo or similar with the movement really helps get them in, My BIL made one and he won't go without it now. 0 -
decoys work, they think there's a feast(pigeon/dove)..& just come in, i done 100's & 100's of 'em in ,with the coys..[}:)] 0 -
...If you need decoys to bring the Dove into gun range, you need to move to a new spot.
...Sunflowers are one of their favorite feeds, but flight paths to and from water/feed/roost, are just as good; along with hunting over a tank after they leave their feed.
...Some of the best Dove hunts Ive ever had were hunting over Goat Weed. I have no idea what the proper name for this plant is, but Dove LOVE this suff. 2-3' tall, verigated (frosty white "look/color") topped w/white flowers that are filled with tiny black seeds. This stuff grows wild in Texas. If Im out with the camera and think about it Ill grab you a pic. I found this front page article looking for a pic http://www.leasehunter.com/dove_article.htm
...If you have Dove comming down in front of a cold front, resident population, find a pasture of Goat Weed...[;)]
