Ammo $ increases
Talked to a friend at the gun show today, ammo seller. He said his distributor told him last week, prices are going up 50% real soon on .223 and 7.62x39mm, and some other calibers. My friend has already dealt with 20% increases in the last few months. Distributor told him, it is about to go nuts.
Can anyone confirm this info. Don't think he was trying to pressure a sale today, as we have done a lot of trading before.

I posted an article last week that quoted an ammo dealer in Chattanooga who said prices were going up 50%, especailly on military calibers.
Causes, in addition to War in Iraq, were increased price of copper, brass and lead(all going to china) and the cost of freight ie. gas.
So you can blame it all on the Ragheads. We're wasting all our ammo on them and they're jacking up the price of gas on us at the same time.0 -
prices have quadrupled on imported 7.62*39 since 9/11
have probally gone up 2.5 times on .223
why stop now?
raw material prices keep going up, we are sending close to a billion rounds to Iraq0 -

30'06 is actually a good deal about 27 cents a round now for greek non-corrosive.
That is CHEAPER than .223!0 -

The distributors do this EVERY time the can....its a giant mess. I heard they were really close to some kind of ban on the 5.7x28 round (or guns) because of the police officer that had been shot in New Mexico. I told some of my customers about it because they have those types of firearms and I wanted to know if they were interrested in getting any ammo if I could get any. Each and every one of them freaked out like it was a hot stock tip. Now they have cases and cases of that ammo "just in case."
The distributors are causing a panic....the ammo gets bought up in GIANT PILES by everyone who can spare a few bucks. Now there is a shortage...not because there is a REAL shortage...but because people are getting ready for "the shortage."
Ammo is ammo....not guns...it goes up a few dollars usually at the beginning of the year. I really do believe that the cases upon cases of ammo being hoarded away by everyone is a major cause for the 5 price increases this year rather than the average one or two jumps.0 -
I have enough ammo for two years. unless my right eye with the cataract gets ripe. In other words if I can't see out of my right eye, I'm not going to be shooting much. I'll be reloading for my son in law and his friends for sure. 0 -

Sorry to hear about your vision problem. Here's a little piece of information that might encourage you about your options for the future of your vision. My mother is 92 and still has great vision in her eyes after having had cataract surgery and new lens inserted twenty-something years ago.

...it is like money in the bank. A few years ago I bought 3-1,000, 2 cases of 7.62 X 39 for $88 and change (ea)...delivered to my door; 2 cases JHP, and 1 case JSFTPT...[:0]
...Sold the SKS...a guy offered me so much I could not turn him dn, bring back, no import marks. So I ought to consider getting rid of this boxed "gold" I guess...[^]
