Ultrasonic cleaning
I recently bought a Sharpertech ultrasonic cleaner. It really does a great job cleaning and oiling hand guns. I bought this brand because it has inside tank dimensions that are larger than the brands sold on midway USA for the same money. It is made in USA. The biggest tip I can give if you are going to go ultrasonic is after the ultrasonic oiling, Have an extra basket to let your parts drain back into the oil pan and then wipe the excess with cotton cloths.
It is a little costly to go ultrasonic. Another tip is to buy the largest tank that your budget will allow.

..and the advantage of this type cleaning is...?? I'm not poo-pooing it, I just wonder what's the advantage of ultrasonic. Clean is clean and oiled is oiled...[;)]
