454 Ammo Question
Which Grain of Bullet do you prefer? 240gr. or 300gr.

...Depends whether shooting paper or killing water melons or jugs of water...I bought mine for hogs, either will kill them just as dead. 45lc works fine too...and is a tad cheaper...[;)]

I bought 4 case of winchester 260 grain jacketed flat points for 7.14 a box of 20 so until those are gone I have not shot much else 0 -

have you shoot a 480 and if so hows the recoil to that of the 454

Tazzer I have shot both and I think that the 480 was less than the 454 but not by much. 0 -
Both of my 454s (FAs) like the 300 gr better. Groups are very tight with 300. Not quite so good with 260. Even less good with 240. 0 -
tazz Nope, no .480...the recoil on the 454 is more of a torky push than a quick muzzle jump.
...I let a freind shoot it that the biggest he'd ever shot before was a 9mm [:D]...I had the vid cam set up and watched it later as it all happened too quick to see when he shot it but; he had such a death grip on it...there was NO, NONE(!) muzzle jump when he shot it!!![:0] 300 grainers too! It just pushed him straight back about two steps! If I had not seen it I would not have believed that one could hold it so tight as to have no muzzle jump at all!
...He touched off 5 rounds the same way! Next day he said his sternum was a little sore, well duh! Holding it like he did and not allowing it to rise, it was like someone hit him in each shoulder really hard at the same instant, trying to seperate his sternum...[:D]0
