What I've been up to:
This past weekend I participated in the Michigan National Guard's Governor's Twenty pistol match. I finished tied for second amongst new shooters so I was awarded my governor's twenty tab, and 4 leg points to start me on my way towards becoming distinguished!! As a wise man once said, "Good things come to those that shoot straight!!"

Congrats! Not knowing much about the match, what pistols were used amongst the contestants? Did everyone have to use the same model of firearm? Regardless, which one did you use? 0 -
Since this an army\air force match we all had to use either the beretta m9 or the sig 229\m11. I used an M9. It consisted of 3 different matches. Match 204 consisted of 40 shots. From 35 yards: 10 shots standing, 10 shots kneeling 10 shots crouched, 10 shots prone. Then we moved onto the Excellence In Competition Match. This match was fired from 15 yards. First off you get 4, 4 second exposures to fire to the chest one to the head. The kicker is that in order to get points you must make the head shot: No head shot, NO points. The second part of the EIC match is the most fun: you get 4 targets, I will refer to them as 1,2,3,4. First exposure 7 seconds and 6 shots: 1,2,3,4,1,1. Then you get 6 seconds, 6 shots again: 1,2,3,4,1,1. Then it gets fun: 5 seconds, 6 shots, 2,2,3,3,4,4. And finally 4 seconds, 2,2,3,3,4,4. Then you score it. The final match was the scramble. You place your weapon on the 15 yard line, one 6 round magazine in your pocket, and one 6 round magazine on the 20 yard line. You then start at the 35 yard line with your back to the targets. On go you spin around, sprint forward, grab your mag on the run, get to your weapon, load, and engage the target with 2 to the chest one to the head, 2 to the chest, 1 to the head. You then reload, switch hands and repeat the process. Again you must have one head shot for ever 2 chest shots for the chest to count. It was on this even that I proabbaly lost the match for me. I pounded the hell out of the 5 ring and totally neglected the head of the target. It was a costly mental error. My one flinger that didn't impact in the bullseye went high and caught the chin so i got 15 points. I threw away between 30-40 points on that match. It is a mental error I will not make again. Overall it was a VERY FUN afternoon! 0 -

That does sound like an enjoyable match. Something quite different and a test of battle skills. Good score!! 0 -

congratulations, sounds like fun 0 -
I'm confused. This is to teach you that in combat you must figure how many shots to chest and make sure you make corresponding shots to head. What if target only presents head shots, you must wait for body shot?? What is wrong with the old moving target? Tom 0 -
Congrats...sounds like fun! 0
