No Shooting - Fire Danger !!!
So its late may and most of southern california public areas are now closed to shooting due to "fire danger". They will be closed until about mid November. Keep in mind the areas closed equate to about ALL of southern california national forests, and public lands. Many people around here think its just an excuse to keep shooters out. Of course they dont ban anyone from having a camp fire though.

the "fire danger" closures are supposed to be confined to specific areas based on real time conditions. however, i am finding that the closures are now blanket closures throughout the entire forests. they are even closing private shooting ranges in the palmdale and santa barbara areas. i think the only way to find out what is closed to to be in the area and see the signs posted. i have no idea on who is the official word or how you get an official answer but i used to think it was the forest service offices. then one day i twas told by them that they only have authority over certain portions of the land and they said to contact the local fire department. the local fire department told me they have NO authority and they only issue "reconmendations" as to the fire danger. so to answer your question i have no clue, lol. i just know its posted right now there is no shooting !!0 -
Most of LA County is a shooting range.I suggest Huntington Park and the surrounding havens.Have fun, from the 949 0 -
Contact the BLM region office directly it is there fire jurisdiction not CDF's (unless things have changed) As for hunting DFG has the final say, in turn they will enforce the closer buy the recommendation of BLM/CDF.
In other words its a joint effort. of BLM and DFG. Wanted to add thats happened a bunch of times up here in Las padres.0 -
So do they ban smoking in the forests too? I know of a lot of fires that have started from discarded cigerettes and I cannot think of a single instance of a fire cause from the muzzle blast of a gun. 0 -
During the wet season, do they also post NO PISSING/FLOOD DANGER?[}:)][:p]
Makes about as much sense.0 -

...really expect anything less than THAT, from a liberal infested country like CA.? If I were given the country of CA., I'd sell it cheap or just give it away to Chavez/Castro, as they seem to be well liked there...[;)]
