Firearms coatings...
I'm giving some thought to getting my FireStar refinished. It'll never be a collectable, so I'm looking for something that will work best.
There used to be quite a bit of talk about ROBAR, and also hard chrome.
Any opinions or experience, or suggestions for other alternatives from y'all??

...Dang, there are a LOT of finishes avaiable now compared to a few years ago.
...Ive only had a few guns re-blued, and small parts plated so not sure which finish might hold up the best (complete gun) out of all that are available.
...Hard chrome holds up well as a finish. I do know most the "coatings" look just like, coatings. A high grade paint job that is far tougher than paint, but still in most cases, looks like paint.
...Doug, Ive used Chris here at Metaloy, super nice guy, excellent work at a VERY fair price http://www.originalmetaloy.com/pricing.html. I know some of the plating co.'s associated with some "big names", like to charge like they ARE the big names, way over priced...[;)]
Edit: I have an updated price list if you decide and need to know "exactly", or call Chris at Metaloy for one.
