...Fried pickles???!! eeeew.
Fried green tomatoes, yum!
....Kev, just take a bowl and mix about 2 cups flour to 2 cups corn meal. Add, slat, pepper. a little garic powder to the flour mixture and stir it up good.
Slice the maters and dredge the slices thru the flour mixture and drop (easy!) into 375 degree oil (peanut oils the best) and DONT walk away, they dont take long. Turn once...then remove from skillet and drain on papper towel...[;)]
...IF YOU WANT, YOU CAN RUN THE SLICES THRU SOME MILK AFTER YOU HAVE DREDGED THEM THRU THE FLOUr/MEAL MIX...THE BATTER TENDS TO STICK BETTER THAT WAY...[:p]

...Trouble with making fried green maters is that I pull a stool up to the range while I fix 'em. AS soon as they drain and cool a little I eat all the damn things! Happened more than once...and weren't any left to go with the rest of the meal...[:0]
..Yep,damn yankees don't know whats good..[^]
