Same in Cleveland, all the schools are closed because it is too cold for them. Myself I am on my way out the door to work outside for 12 hours, I can't convince my boss it is too cold. But then I would lose money if I missed a day, teachers and administrators don't care about that stuff, they get paid regardless (and then complain they are all underpaid)

Man, am I glad you said something!
I'm usually not home at this time, but the whole division where I work closed down for "Super Bowl Monday".....
Your thread prompted me to check the local school closings and SURE ENOUGH>>>>>>>>>>the schools are closed due to the "extreme cold"
it don't happen too often but it did today!
    Thanx, Joe!

I don't know about your area, but in Indiana days that schools are closed have to be made up later in the year.

Here in WI they have "snow days" built into the school year. The days that aren't used for snow(or in rare cases, cold) are given back during the Easter/Spring break!
BTW: Joe Drees. I forgot that you live 25 miles down I-43 from me, that shoulda' been my first clue(duh!)

We have "snow days" built in also, but all they are is a predetermined day when any cancellation is made up, it's the same number of days either way. Our teachers sign a contract for 185 days of work, and by golly, they are going to work 185 days.

We may allow some paid sick days, but they sure aren't getting any days of paid vacation on our tax dollars.[:)]

Doing alot better. He should be out of ICU today and probly home by Wensday. It took a buttload of meds to get his airway opened up and he still had a bit of a wheez yesterday and was still on oxegen. But the worst was past.

We may be dealing with a decided "wimp" factor here.[:D]

4 miles to school, 4 miles home. I enjoyed the time with the other kids - never wanted to ride. Rain, Snow, Donder und Blitzen - loved it all, along the shores of Lake Erie - before it got dirty & when it had lots of beaches. N. E. Ohio.

I know we must have had them, but I don't recall ever having snow days off.

35 below actual temp without regard to the additional wind factor and we still have school here in northern Maine. Only time school is cancelled is when it is extra stormy - blowing snow so you cann't see or icy roads.
A few storm days are figured in the school calander any more days off have to be made up.

Ft. Wayne is closing for tomorrow. It seems that their buses with the biodiesel fuels gelled up today and quite a few kids standing outside waiting for the buses never got picked up. They are concerned that the same thing might happen again. I sure hope they dock the checks of those overpaid teachers who didn't teach to a full classroom today.[}:)]

The school I work at was closed, but I still put in a 14 hr day there. Thought the extra cash could go towards a new handgun, but it looks like it will all go for car repairs. What luck!
