Gas prices going....................UP!
ANYWHERE THAT SELLS GAS -- Surprise, surprise. Gas prices are moving on up, just in time for the holiday weekend, reports News 11's Tim Miller.
AAA tells us there are a few reasons for the skyrocketing prices. At the Shell Station on Monroe and Michigan downtown, it's $2.85 a gallon for regular.
Holiday weekend travelers tell us: It figures!
Not surprisingly, Ward Jenkins doesn't like price hike. "I don't know if they do it on purpose or not, but it always seems like the gas prices change closer to the weekends. The holiday weekend probably makes it that much more," he said.
The Michigan family driving a big RV to Myrtle Beach this weekend went online and mapped out their gas stops for the whole trip -- based on the best prices. They got it for $2.59 at the TA Travel Center at I-280 and the turnpike.
"I think that's a lot of money," said Sonya Bishop.
AAA of Northwest Ohio tells us refinery problems during the month of March have put the industry a little behind in gasoline production. A smaller inventory means we pay more at the pumps.
Another possible reason for the jump? Energy traders get nervous as refineries struggle to stockpile warm-weather fuels.
"All I can do is pay it. Nothing else I can do about it. Instead of $40 like it was when I bought the truck, it's $60 or $70 now," said Rich Cunningham, another unhappy driver.
The national average for regular unleaded is $2.70 a gallon. We're way past that in many locations, and AAA says prices won't drop until gasoline inventories go up.

We finally have a station here selling ethanol. Wife's Dodge can burn it. Filled up yesterday for $1.99 a gallon! [:D] We will see how it does. MPG is supposed to be slightly less, but more HP and a cooler running engine. 0 -

Allen you beat me too it, I hit the pump on wendsday Diesiel 2.89, last night all gas had jumped 40 cents and diesel went up 15 cents. at this rate we will be 3.50 a gal by summer. I'd better get some tires on the old Pedal Bike. looks like i will be doing some pedaling this summer.0 -

I fill up my work truck at Speedway because they have this program called Speedy Rewards. It gives you points for purchases like at CVS,Kroger,etc. I was informed yesterday that they have reduced the points on fuel because they dont make enough money on fuel.[:(!] But you get the same points for gas or diesel. Diesel is always .30 cents more on avg. Every time I fill up they cut me off at $125.00. And that was 1250 points. Now it's 10 points per gallon. It takes 750 points just for a hot dog.. 0 -
Damn Jag takes prem and it was $3.19 at Chevron down the street from my home. Costco had it for 9 cents a gal cheaper so I went there and filled up. 0 -
$3.49 per gallon for premium at my local Chevron station. Looking around could save me perhaps 10 cents a gallon at an ARCO station but I doubt there is any where left in Orange County where gasoline is under $3 per gallon. 0 -
..bad part is, you know it always starts to go up a couple of weeks before Memorial day...and the crap is high now, jusy wait...[:0]
