Justice for all???
I read recently where a young girl got 7 years in my state for manslaughter after a fatal accident in which she was proven to be driving under the influence. Doesn't this seem a bit harsh? She was only about 23.

Here's some details,

It's harsh because illegal immigrant scumbag screwheads get a slap on the wrist FOR THE EXACT SAME THING MULTIPLE TIMES.[:(!][:(!][:(!] 0 -
The person she killed is still dead. Won't be getting any older. 0 -
7 years, 6 months....... neither is remotely harsh enough. Murder is still just that, MURDER.
Death penalty to anyone convicted of any murder not commited in self defense, that's my belief.0 -

A cop? Lucky he got any time at all.0 -
Hell, I knocked over a liquor store on my way home. Had to have some pizza money. Had a few beers and then backed over a baby in a carriage. Because I am a cop, I can do these things with impunity. 0 -
I don't know, you might get six months for the baby. 0 -
not harsh enough. 0 -

You're supposed to be the mature and sensible one, David!
Enjoy your weekend (if you're getting one, at all).0 -

David I think for the most part, we all do agree that your a decent cop. This that blackhorn has posted is what most of us "anti leo" people are speaking about when we get on the kick.0 -

We all know you're a bad azz nunn!![:D][;)]
What kind of pizza?0 -
I think the 7 years was about right.
I think the 6 months should have been 10 years because a cop should know better and would be held to a higher standard.
Illegals who kill people while drunk should be fried.0 -
Should have gotten 3X that amount----minimum. She killed/murdered another person, period. 0 -

Killing someone while driving drunk is not murder! Its manslaughter.
Murder is killing someone unlaufully and with malice. Malice is with "Ill Will" and "With Intent To Harm!" This is not murder!
There is no intent to kill or premeditation.
Killing while drunk is extreme negligence and manslaughter. I agree the penality must be severe to send that proper msg to society. But it is an accidental death not a planned event.0 -
Getting drunk and then driving is a behavior. We have free will granted by God, to make our own behavioral decisions.
When you choose to drink and drive, you are making a premeditated decision. Killing someone while you are drunk is murder.
Doug
with some rare exceptions.0 -
You kill someone cause your drunk behind the wheel you should go away for a long time. If her victim had "molested" her he would have got life and everyone would be ready to string him up, she kills him and gets seven. Hmmmm.... 0 -
A Lot of good points here, and can see some validity in each, so have
mixed emotions about this'n.0 -

Damn Colt, that's harsh, after all, she only killed one person.
You should have to be a serial killer to be forced to room with a cereal killer like Rosie.[;)]0 -
...Well dlrjj I am feeling in a very benevolent mood tonight.
...Your right though, it was ONLY one person after all, doubt that person had a mother/father/wife/children/siblings,...in vetro I believe.
...On second thought, possibly 2 hours community service (mowing? picking up trash?) would have her see the error of her ways; after all, it was ONLY one person...[^]

Sentences are imposed at the discretion of judges, and they can and do as they please. Except at the federal level where drug charges are mandated by law, taking away the judges discretion.
Locally if a judge has a history of light sentences, then they can be removed at election time (varies by state).0 -

You did catch the two spellings, right?0 -
...Dan, the two spellings? You mean the "in vitro"? If that's it, I was under the impression that was the correct spelling...though strange to me!...[:D]

I said that one ought to have to be a "Serial killer" in order to be forced to room with a "Cereal killer" like Rosie.
I know, I know. I should be flogged for a pun that bad on a Saturday night.[:D]0 -
