I have to betray my namesake and vote for the Enfield, particularly the No. 4, because of the following:

Peep Sights10 round magDetachable MagReceiver vent holes in the event of case failureUncomplicated boltExcellent trigger

A Mosin has none of those.

British Enfield hands down. Slick, fast, high cap, quick reloading with 10 rd mag or stripper.
I've seen it outshoot the M-1 in rapid fire.
Note that it cocks on closing which helps its' speed.
Like several other British guns, it's too ugly for me to want to own one.

Enfield all the way. It is quiker to operate than the 03 or model 98
It has a higher mag capacity than any of them. depending on the model the sights are quiker to pick up. The MN has the most awkward bolt handle next to the carcano. The saftey on the enfield is easier to work. Unloading is easier . But the only thing I find unexplainable is the British militarys loading procedure. They did not issue replacement magazines. They used stripper clips to reload the single magazine issued with the rifle. Maybe this was a step taken due to shortages of metal or something but that is why the extra mags are so hard to find

My gradnfather was a Sgt in WWI and the two rifles issued at the time were the Springfield 03 and the Enfield 17. He said the Enfield was a much sturdier action, but the Springfield was a much more desireable and accurate rifle. So if those two were then used in WWII, I'd go with the Springfield 03.

Given the criteria of the original poster, I'd go with the Enfield. Have never owned one, but would like to. However, as far as WWII bolt-guns go, I prefer the k98 over all others.
