1969 colt, need help!
i have a 1969 commemorative golden spike 22 Caliber pistol my father bought new, when he went to fire the gun he noticed that the cylinder was sized for a 22mag! i have letters from colt saying this cylinder was never produced in a gold tone or period for that gun? i was wondering if anyone might know a $ value or of any other factory mistake like this one. the gun has been fired still in good shape some minor wear in original box with documents, any help would be much appreciated!

Golden Spike Scout, in the standard Catalog of guns is valued at 475.00 new in box.. 11,000 were made.
Blue Book quotes the same price...
Colt told me that the .22 LR cylinder would not work in my Scout as the frame was marked .22 mag,, HA HA HA HA suprise,, fits and works perfect..[:0]0 -
so are u saying this is the correct cylinder? 0 -
...I'm not sure about the revolver being chambered in 22 mag.
I believe the run of these in 1969 was around 11,000, which is a lot for a commemrotive run; part of the reason the price is not what one might think.
...Commemrotive Colt's for some reason, even in smaller runs usually do not appreciate as rapidly as a lot of other "regular" Colt models.
...Your gun if unfired, in original mint box with all original paper work etc., including the spike would be worth between $650-$750...not allowing for the odd ball .22 mag chambering...being fired (BIG detraction of value for a commemrotive! Commerotives are best left untouched by bare hands, not cycled or cylinder turned) and the box being worn, the price would be determined more by what someone is willing to pay.
...A dyed in the wool collector would probably offer a price that would just pizz you off; if they even bothered to make you an offer. Someone that wants that particular Colt may offer you $100-$200 off the going price of an unfired mint cond. one...luck...[;)]
