Any telephone repairman here?
I had a phone that would barely ring, just a tiny beep. The phone will
call out ok, and all services such as called ID will work. So, I bought a new phone, and the same thing happened.
Called Verizon repair Thursday night, and a repairman was at my house
3 times yesterday trying to solve this problem. I was off from work and talked to him.
Ringing voltage is good. Inside and outside lines are good. As he was working, I was listening to him talk to the central office. Between 3 trips and several call to central, I think he must have been here about 3 hours. I heard them trying every trick they could, and I still have the same problem.
During all this work, I started unplugging lines for him, and we discovered if my DSL modem is unplugged, the phones ring as normal.
Plug in the DSL, they quit again.
Finally, he said to order a new modem from Verizon, which was a 1 hour nightmare. I was talking to some rep in Pakistan?
I could not comminicate with her at all. Also, she said no supervisor was available. The rep kept saying that I needed to talk to someone in sales. So, here I go again with another call.
Finally, got an American online that help. She is sending me another modem by Useless Parcel Service.
After 34 years with Verizon (old GTE), I threatened to cancel all services.
So now I wait for a new modem, and hope it will fix my problem.
A relly fun [:(] day, but at least I was off from work.

http://www.homephonewiring.com/index.html Sounds like you you needed a new modem.. Did he try resetting the modem? 0 -
I put a DSL splitter on my phone line and that eliminated all the interference problems I was having with all the DSL filters on every phone jack in the house. Then I ran CAT 5 wire to the computer from the TNI {Telephone Network Interface}. Those filters are about $40 0 -
...last time I called about a problem with my Norton Virus app...I ended up with some almost no english speaking guy in India, cause I asked where he was.
...After repeating every question 3-4 times, and asking him to repeat his answers just as many times...I got fed up with the crap.
...Told him thanks but no thanks, that I was hungry and was going to go grill up a nice big steak, told him I loved to eat dead cows...[;)]
