FFL address change
Have a 01 Fl. Have been working out of an small building next to the house, we are in the country, so no zoning to worry about. Just bought the property next door with large building with more space.
Really want to get moved in to the new building and get set up as soon as possible. We could really use the room and increased retail space for the Winter Hunting / Xmas season.
Want to move all the office and inventory to the new building. FFL is due for renewal in Feb 2008.
Should I reapply with this new address change now? Or should I wait and renew with new address in Feb? Only change would be address. Realizing that FFL's are taking months to process. Advantages? Tax implications?

Do it NOW. BATF requires you file your address change at least 30 days BEFORE you relocate. I just got my new FFL with my new address which took over 60 days to process.0 -
Renew with the new address in Feb. That is what we did when we moved from the east coast to Idaho. The ATF advised us that this would be the easiest and fastest way to do it. We were lucky enough that the timing of our move coincided with our renewal date. It worked out great for us. Good luck with whatever you decide to do. 0 -
BTW...you can store your inventory over there right now. You can have as many warehouses as you want/need for your stock. Legally, you must conduct business (IE: firearm transfers) at your premisis address though. If the new building is not too far away, you may want to consider keeping your non firearm related stock in the new building and selling your firearms out of the existing building until the new license is issued.
One more thing...you will have to wait until they send you your renewal notice...they will not send one out early and there is no way you can request it. Once you get the renewal, just renew with your new address.0
