It will take a lot of water, but warm weather grass can still be planted.

    Seed or Sod?
Check with your local home center, they probably have something that will work.

It will work, it it is windy in your area this time of year, use one of the adhesive powders to hold the seed down.

I'm not trying to discourage you, but I wouldn't go to the expense at this time of year. Wait until after August 15 or so, idealy
Aug.15-Sept15. Thats when mother nature plants her grass. You can plant now, but as HeDog said "It will take a lot of water." If you plant in the fall you will get more moisture, warm days and cool nights.

For some temporary green you might try some perennial ryegrass. It germinates fast and only lasts about a year or two. I have done that to cover bare spots in my yard.

Depends on what your elevation is. Previous posts are correct that you'l spend $$$ on water to keep new grass going through the summer in your neck of the woods. It may be a bit easier at higher elevation, but I usually wait till early September.

I did my lawn about 1 1/2 months ago. I am watering about 2 1/2 hours every evening to keep it in shape and green.

But I do not pay a single penny for water as I am on a well and the pump does not go on my power bill.
