A friend said he has Wal-Mart stock, wants profit
I told him that if Wal-Mart celebrated Christmas their sales would go up and he could sell his stock for more money. I do not understand why a retailer would refuse to even have the word Christmas anywhere in the store during the shopping season. The first Friday after Thanksgiving is called "Black Friday" as the first time stores get out of the red and into the black financially. Many non-christians celebrate Christmas.

I too have stock in walmart. I got it when I worked for them driving truck. We were given what amounted to about 3/4 of a share every week, and we had the option to purchase about another share a week with a 100% match on our purchase.
I do not have very much but what I do have has done nothing but go up for the (about) 7 years that I have had it.
I have it set up were I do not see any checks or anything. All my dividends get rolled right back into more walmart stocks that way I do not have to file any taxes on the money.
Walmart has made more millionair truck drivers than any other trucking company just from the stock program alone. I know one driver who retired from walmart and built a home that cost him $750000 for the land and home and he still had enuff left to never have to worry about a thing for the rest of his life.
I personally think walmart is one of those stocks that are safe and will allways make a person money if they are patient and sit on it.0 -
OK, I'm not Christian (or Catholic, if you count them as different...) but I am really sick of the commercialization of Christmas. Used to be, decorations, etc. would appear in the stores the day after thanksgiving. This year, the decorations, etc. have been in the stores for a few weeks already...
If you are of a faith that believes in Jesus, etc. then fine, feel free to celebrate his birth, death, etc. But don't go overboard and commercialize what should be a true holy day...0 -
I have to disagree about WMT.
It has been one of the worst DJIA stocks in the last 10 yrs.
Has gone from $62 to $45 in 5 yrs.

You may be right in the last 5 yrs as I have not paid attention to it.
I know mine is worth more than I paid for it as most of it was given to me and what I did pay for was at 1/2 cost.0
