    Well, the map he made clearly shows the continent of Antarctica. With coastline.

    Antarctica, including coastline, has been buried with glaciers since at least 4000 BC.

    A Dr. Charles Hapgood from this century... scuse me, the last century.... wanted to figure out how this was possible. He sent the map to the US Air Force for examination. here is what they said, July 6, 1960:

    Your request for evaluation of certain unusual features of the Piri Reis World Map... by this organization has been reviewed.

    The claim that the lower part of the map portrays the Princess Martha Coast of Queen Maud Land, Antarctica, and the Palmer Peninsula, is reasonable. We find this is the most logical and in all probability the correct interpretation of the map.

    The geographical detail shown in the lower part of the map agrees very remarkably with the results of the seismic profile made across the top of the ice-cap by the Swedish-British Antarctic Expedition of 1949.

    This indicates the coastline had been mapped before it was covered by the ice-cap.

    The ice-cap in this region is now about a mile thick.

    We have no idea how the data on this map can be reconciled with the supposed state of geographical knowledge in 1513.

    Antarctica could have very well had a coastline much more recently than 4000-6000 years ago. If you go back and watch the video, you will see an example of a plane crash on a glacier in which the plane was found to be 250' under the ice. This happened over a period of 50 years. Using this example, it would only take 1000 years for ice to form 1 mile thick...this would mean that if those maps were found in the 1500's, they could have been created as late as 500 AD...not 4000 BC...that's if the ice was a mile thick in the 1500's, which it was not It was a mile thick in 1949, which means those maps could have been created as late as 1000-1500 AD. The plane crash above is only one example on one glacier...found in a climate much more hospitable than Antarctica. I would even venture to say that ice 1 mile thick could form in half that time in Antarctica...perhaps even as recently as 1000-1500 AD. People were certainly traveling the seas at the time of Jesus Christ...and it is highly likely that these maps were created after that time.
