Mr.Gunz: I just shot some one and I think he is dead!
911: Sir, I need you to make sure he is dead!
Mr: I can do that! BANG!

Here's the advice I got from an NRA-certified instructor I have had the pleasure of shooting with:
If you're in your home and you hear an intruder, first, call 911. If you have to immediately grab a gun and confront the intruder, just put the phone down. Then, shout "Get out of my house!" repeat it. If you have to shoot, do so. All of this will be recorded for future reference. I would assume that, if it's possible to do so with your cell phone on the street, then do the same thing.
My personal advice is to tell the 911 operator that there has been a shooting. If you are able to stay on the line, just follow their instructions, but do NOT volunteer any information. Just answer their questions.0 -
And the first thing you say when they arrive is, "I thought he was going to kill me!" 0 -

Keep restating how you felt threatened and thought your life was in danger. Also tell the intruder that you have a gun and make to tell the police that you said so. Most importantly don't lie about any details. If you can't recall some info just say so. Wait for your head to clear before saying anything you are unsure of.0 -

and for gosh sakes wear gloves when handling the old spare knife before putting it in thier dead hands![}:)][}:)] joke0 -
Yeah make sure that you call 911 first if at all possible. Make sure that you say you are armed and ready to use your weapon if forced to do so. If you have already shot them, I can offer you no better advice than anyone else so far. 0 -
From some of the bizarre crap that has happened to God fearing citizens shooting nare-do-wells in their abode I would think that not saying a darn thing would be the most legally prudent thing to do until you have a lawyer present.
Some prosecutors love to charge all sorts of things against citizens involved in defensive shootings.0 -
Press a kitchen knife or screw driver into his dead hand ... then tell them
He Dog did it!

I suggest you say "Send the cops! I have a gun and I just shot a guy!" and be sure to hold it up so they can see it clearly when they pull up in their cruisers. 0 -
if there is somebody in my house, im shooting first, asking questions later, not waiting to see what they want, not calling the cops, if i do that stuff first, i could be the one to end up dead, im not gonna take that chance, i like my life, a lot 0 -
The ONLY thing you tell the police....
"I want to talk to my lawyer."0 -
Shoot. Empty mag. reload. call 911 0 -

Think I'd just leave it at "an intruder was just shot in my home", and
sort out the details later..0 -

The person is already a proven scumbag for even being in your home. He could be there to rape my daughters or kill them for all I know. I won't take chances with known scumbags, I will defend my damn home.
I personally wouldn't say much if the police were going to arrest me until I had a lawyer present. Getting convicted for defending my home would definatly push me over the edge. We have the castle doctrine here in Texas so I'm pretty sure it's a pretty clear cut deal if someone is shot breaking into a home.0 -
"Hello Police, I just shot an intruder." Hang up and then BANG> 0 -

Don't assume you can shoot someone in your home. Many states (including mine which surprises me) actually have laws requiring you to retreat and if you cap a guy for no reason other than you caught him in your house you could be convicted of a felony, spend years in prison, and lose the right to even own a gun. Then of course, the perp or his kin sue you and take everything you own.
It's not right, but that's the way it is so be careful about saying that anyone in your house is bought and paid for. Ain't necessarily so.0 -

Yes, but you didn't get the memo? All home invasion has been suspended until Sept, then criminals may proceed as normal. [;)]0 -

You should always scream "Praise be to Allah I must kill the infidels" while you have 9-1-1 on the phone. 0 -

Interesting to note that the guy I was talking to advised against this very thing. He said that doing so would tip your (heretofore upper) hand and possibly prompt the bad guy to simply open fire. I'm not sure I agree with what he said. I'd be curious about your thoughts on this.0 -
I would decline from opening a dialog with an invader of my home. I would fill him full of holes, and, in a few minutes, after he has quit leaking, I would make the phone call.

Wouldn't "Inshallah" and "Allah-hu-akbar" be better terms to use?0
