Bipolar, and Firearms..?

I know someone that has been declared bipolar, and am fairly certain
they have several firearms. Just wondering where the law might stand
on this issue.
I would think it illegal, and googling it didn't produce much.

  Excuse my ignorance but I don't know what PTSD is, can you explain?
  
  By the way it is very common for people with a serious bi-polar condition to have problems with booze and drugs. Kind of goes hand in hand. Its a form of obsessive-compulsive behavior only the mood swings are out of control.
  
  I would venture to say that a good 50% of the population suffers from some form of obsessive-compulsive behavior. Usually caused by a reduction in the amount of brain chemicals produced. It is said that folks who smoke, eat to excess, drink to much, too much caffine, excessive use of priscription medications, are showing symptions of this condition. Time mag did a issue on this many years ago and it was quite interesting.

  PTSD is Post Tramatic Stress Disorder
  
  It comes from most any tramatic event in a persons life. Such as Rape, an attack, or something of that sort.
  
  But it most commonly accosiated with combat veterans! It was first called shell shock durring WW1. And later was termed PTSD and gained more attention from problems with Vietnam Veterans.
  
  It is also suspected that probly 90% of all combat veterans suffer from some sort of PTSD even if they do not realize it.
  
  And I would bet that that 90% figure would hold true to anyone who has had a very tramatic event in thier lives.
  
  I have done a bit of reasearch on this as I like to know what is going on with me personally and after the VA diagnosed me with it I wanted to learn more.
