i've shot the 460 in most all factory loadings, as well as the 500. Both were performance center models with 12" barrels and ported if i remember correctly, i would not in any way shape or form want to shoot either in a 2.75" barrel and i regularly shoot a 45-70 with a 10" barrel and very hot loads down to trapdoor loads. i guess if you absolutely postively have to shoot a grizz any big bore will do. BUT the purpose of the .460 S&W was LONG RANGE accuracy out of a pistol, the total opposite of what you are intending with this handgun. My .02

I have fired a .460 with a 8" or whatever barrel and you'll notice the difference between the 2 round. I can only imagine what a 2.75" barrel would feel like. I did notice though the design of the gun makes it kick straight back into the palm of your hand rather than recoil upward. That's with that compensated barrel. They are neat handguns though.

i'm not scaring you, i'm WARNING you [:D], start with the lower velocity and light bullets first, see how you like those apples before you go full bore with a stubby 460, i'm researching something that just popped into my mind, be back with the details in a second

the overall length on the 460 is around 2.300 give or take according to bullet type, averaging around 2300 ft lbs out of an 8" barrel. the overall case is just about 3/8" shorter than the barrel you have and your pistol only weight a few lbs.... not gonna be good if you ask me.... out of a 3 1/2 lb pistol and that much umphhh i think it's gonna hurt

Eric your neighbor in ID there just bought one of those 2.75" barreled versions also. If you know how to contact him, see if he has shot his yet. Personally I don't think it will be all that bad. The little 329 scandium 44 mag only weighs 26 ounces and I think that would be much worse the the 460.

I don't have the experience that Don has. Matty has broken him in well.
