simple cam systems

Anyone have a recording cam system for security? I want to put it on a light pole behind my house covering the drive and obvious points of entry. A simple computer system should not be hard to install.

    BP, their are many remote cam set-ups on the market.Google "remote security cam" then serarch the sights for "PC" compatible.Hope this helps you...

    check on ebarf and search cctv, should get camara and some sellers of the card for your PC, most handle 4 views/camaras.

    There's all sorts of things you can do with Linux (or BSD) and some/many inexpensive webcams. I've done year long stop motion stuff, motion detection, live streaming, etc.

    There are also extenders you can get for USB that will let you send it over 190 feet via cheap ethernet (CAT5) cable.

    If you want to go this route, you'll need an old Pentium grade computer with 128mb ram and however much disk space you want to store... You'll need a separate USB controller for each camera as well - cards are 10-20 each and you should have 4 pci cards on the mobo plus one (or more...) usb buses built in to your hardware. For cameras, check out the Phillips SPC900N - well supported in Linux, BSD, as well as Mac and Windows.
