COMPUTER QUESTION - WINDOWS OR NORTON FIREWALL?
Bought a new Dell computer with Vista Home Premium, have the option of using the Windows firewall or the Norton firewall. Anyone know if one or the other is any better? Thanks.

You do not need a firewall if you are using a home router and are on a private network like 192.168. 0 -
Norton is no longer the great company they were when I was a big believer in them... of course, that was 15 years ago...
I'd use the windows one. And if you have DSL or cable, get a router (Linksys or Netgear)0 -
Forget both of them and get the free version of Zonealarm. 0 -
The firewall in a router is 10 times better then any software firewall on the market. Plus they are cheaper! 0 -
shoff14 - I'll put up any "home grade" router against an old pc running either one of the BSDs (net, open, or free) wtih pf or a Linux box running iptables/netfilter.
Only exception to this would be a Linksys running Linux already....
