Researching IP Addresses
This site might be well known to you folks? But I just found it during surfing. It suppose to able to identify a specific IP address.

I know it doesn't happen on here, but some folks enjoy posting under different names, for whatever reason. This has a tendency to greatly annoy me. I believe if the above site works as advertised? It will give some of these game players second thoughts, i.e. trying to push their BS, by posting under different names.

It works fine up to, but not including, anonymous IPs.

I've got a dummy computer question I have always wondered about.
If there is 2 computers using the same dial-up account but from different locations do they show the same IP address ?0 -
I ran my ip on that link and it didn't really give much information.
I had a link that i lost on my old computer, but it did give a lottt of info. I used it once to my benefit too. Somebody was sending me 4-5 virus a day, for a couple weeks. I ran their ip, and it turned out to be somebody in Chile or sumsuch. I emailed them, gave them their address and all, said if i got another i was coming after them...never got another.0 -
Me and my cousin were both posting here, He got me hooked on GB.
The problem was I am using his wireless router, I live next door, he had dsl. I ask him if I could piggyback on his service.
He said yes, When GB was doing the same thing, looking for duplicate accounts, he got deleted. Yep he was mad as hell, a little bit at me.
But he got over it, Now I just cant get him back.0 -
Lightning, no, with dial-up you would be assigned 2 different IP addresses if you connected to the dial-up network with 2 different PC's during the same time period. 0 -
Kimbercolt, I looked and found no members sharing your IP.
Tell me your cousin's user name and I will look and see whether his account was locked or deleted.0 -
?? I don't get it. all the other IP lookup services do the same thing, and they've been around for years already. 0 -

All fake-able and get-around-able. Heck, I can run my traffic right now thru 6 different addresses on 5 different subnets without leaving my desk or rebooting. Not to mention cool things like Tor, open proxies, SSH tunnels, etc. On top of that, some services change the gateway address with *every* request made (AOL used to do this, think they still do) 0 -
This is one if things that rates up there with putting a person in a round room a telling him to piss in the corner!! 0 -
There are also other means of id a computer... 0 -
Talented - Yup, most fake-able as well. MAC addresses are easy to spoof (with a real OS anyway), nothing else gets sent over the wire really... 0 -
I add some more info coz i've been victimized and learned the hard way.when i were involved in politics before.
Anyhow....If i were a bad guy i could for an example poop chatt something here and give u a link that goes to an spyware infected picture ,preferably located on my site so i get your ip's and other id stuff from your computers.Hmm gifs in signaturelines can also contain extras u would'nt like.I have that option turned off here.
Well the internet is a dangerous place.but i'm not all that interesting anyway, and a skilled hacker can get anyone of us if they really wants to....Well at least i dont keep my bankaccount info in the computer or passwords and neither should u.0 -
