Christians and christianity are not attacked any more than any other religion or belief...

YOu believe in the power of prayer, yet when studies point in the opposite direction (and those studies made the news) then the attack begins...or should I say the "poor us, always the victim "begins...

You know ECC, its not always the christians being attacked or christianity....SOmetimes what is perceived to be an attack, isnt...sometimes its just a question, or an observation...

No one is talking about studies here...just blatant actions.

BTW...every medical study I've heard of supports "the power of prayer"...or one's spirituality...and yes, these have been on the news as well.

Because Christianity is the only faith where God walked among people and was crucified and arose again from the dead.
Budha never rose again, confusious never arose from the grave.
Like you already said Satan is not worried about people following a dead religion but he will attack the one true living God.
And he knows how to use people to do it.
    Like little puppets.

you're not attacked whenever "anything to do with it" comes up.

when you say something like God this or Jesus that or whatever, you are also talking to people who believe to the contrary, they're going to say something.

if someone said "the God of Waffles made the earth so we can all serve Him syrup" are you going to sit there and go "gee, he's right! why didn't I realize that sooner?" are you going to sit there and say nothing? no! you're going to say something.

so when we NON believers hear you say something about your religion, we're going to say something. we're not going to sit there and say "uh huh, uh huh" as if you're going to brainwash us as if we're weak minded dolts. it's obvious you would like to go on about that stuff as much as you like and have NONbelievers adore you for saying it. which is an insult to anybody's intelligence.

now, when you say something and we say something in return, a discussion follows. in such discussions, NONbelievers try to make sense of what believers say, so the facts can help us to either a) accept this crusty old timeworn bit of information incessantly shoved down our throats, or b) get you to finally see how fallacious your inconsistent superstitions really are.

the animosity comes when NONbelievers try to rationalize but all the believers can't put forth anything but bs, resort to "just believe" or quit responding altogether.

which brings me to my next point. no matter how much or how often you are proven wrong or fail to win any factual argument, after you have made a cowardly retreat into silence, you always slink back later on to say how you won the argument, somehow, because the NONbelievers don't know what they're talking about. even though as said before for your part of the argument you may have simply spewed some contradictory bible quotes, resorted to "it's unfathomable, unknowable" or "just believe", or quit responding altogether.

    which is cowardice defined.

which surely would irritate anybody trying to conduct an honest argument on the subject.

which is why we think you're a bunch of idiots.

right or wrong, that's the viewpoint. that's the opinion. you asked, that's the answer.

I do not think it is attacked,,I think it is questioned and when the only answer that can be given is,,,The bible says so,,or..You just have to have faith,,and the person asking the question will not accept a man written book as proof,,Christians percieve this as being attacked,,,
The only time I attack is when someone is trying to push their beliefs on me,,One of my favorite things christians do is steal ideas,,watching TV tonight,,young boy is wearing a shirt that says "GOT GOD" this is stolen from the milk add,,they never have an original idea,,
quote:Christianity is the most attacked faith in existence

maybe if christians did not try to push their beliefs onto everyone else they would not be attacked,,Christians believe its their duty to tell us about God ,,If I want to find him,,I know where to start looking

    ECC..

    Sorry, was called away....

I am speaking of the study that was published last year..spring I believe...round 2000 heart patients over a 10 yr period...

The ones who knew they were being prayed for actually had more complications than the ones who did not...

Study concluded that prayer doesnt help those who know they are being prayed for and also those who dont...

I will find the link for it....

because the religious folk think they're so right but refuse to be proven wrong. it's irritating.

It's not that we refuse to be...it's that we cannot be...

...so why exactly would this cause folks to want to attack Christianity????...b/c it's something they do not understand...or are they envious and frustrated that they don't have what Christians have??? What's the deal? You said therein lies the problem. Why is the fact that we cannot be proven wrong, reason to attack our faith???

Prayer doesn't help heart patients in U.S., study finds
Last Updated: Thursday, March 30, 2006 | 2:26 PM ET

Having people pray for heart bypass patients had no effect on their recoveries in an American study, researchers say.

The scientists, led by Dr. Herbert Benson of Harvard Medical School, emphasized that they looked only at the effect of prayer on the patients in their study - and could not address questions such as whether God exists or answers prayers.

The research, which is to be published in the April 2006 issue of the American Heart Journal, involved about 1,800 patients at six medical centres.

Three Christian groups were asked to pray for particular patients, starting the night before their surgeries and continuing for two weeks.

The volunteers were given a patient's given name and last initial, and prayed for "a successful surgery with a quick, healthy recovery and no complications."

Patients were divided into three groups:

50 percent of patients was being prayed for and knew it.
The second group was also the subject of prayers, but only knew it was a possibility.
Patients in the third group weren't prayed for, although they were told they might be.

The researchers did not tell patients or their families or friends to change their plans for praying, saying it would have been impractical and unethical to do so.

More complications among patients who knew they were prayed for

The patients were then monitored for 30 days for any complications.

The results showed no effect of prayer on the patients' recovery, the researchers said in the journal article, Study of the Therapeutic Effects of Intercessory Prayer (STEP) in cardiac bypass patients.

The study found 59 per cent of the patients who knew they were being prayed for developed medical complications. Among those who thought they might be prayed for, 52 per cent had complications.

The researchers said they had no explanation for the higher complication rate among patients who knew they were being prayed for.

The work was funded by the Templeton Foundation, which supports research into science and religion.

Bush...Where and when have you ever proven the non-existence of God...and the falsehood of Christianity???

You must be one great and wise individual...perhaps a god.?.? No human on the face of this earth...past, present, or future...has been able to accomplish what you claim to have done. Where is it? I've really got to read this. It might open my eyes to a whole new reality...the bushgod has spoken.

    god does not exist because:

    1. there is nothing he has created
    2. there is nothing he has done
    3. it is IMpossible to do all the stuff you say he did

there, I proved that god doesn't exist. if you can't find it anywhere, it doesn't exist. is there a fried egg stuck on your monitor? NO! why? because it isn't there! it doesn't exist

your bible says god gave us free will, but then it also says god made each person preprogrammed to choose this way or that. he made us how we're going to be, how we're going to turn out. those are completely contrary.

    you are proven wrong

you say the earth is only 6000 years old. it has been proven to be billions of years old.

    you are proven wrong

you say god created the earth. its existence has been proven to be a natural phenomenon, just like all the other planets.

    you are proven wrong

you say god created men. men have been proven to be evolved from other creatures. just like neanderthals, cro magnon, etc. were.

    you are proven wrong

you say the theory of evolution is bogus and unproven. it is proven, and evolution does take place with all creatures even as we speak.

    you are proven wrong
