Drug Companies?
Whats up with them and the Insurance business? The same medicine I have been taking for 4 years just went from 9 bucks to 22 bucks a prescription. Asked the pharmacist and she said we could thank Mr Bush for this. Under Bushes revised plan for medicine coverage the insurance companies can refuse to pay for certain meds after any given period of time and force people to take a less expensive one by forceing a person to pay the higher rate. Again the Retired military people in this country gettin a screwing by old Georgie boy. According to Tri Care the max to be paid for non generic drugs is 9.00 per prescription. and 3.00 bucks for generics,, I guess that went out the window as well.[:(!]

I have Tricare standard and a supplement from my current employer. Most of my (family's) prescriptions are free if stocked at the pharmacy on Ft Drum. If I have to go to a local (off base) pharmacy they usually fall into the $3-$9 price range. Are you Prime or Standard? 0 -
CLASSIC HERE!I have Tri care prime for Life, Pay for Tri care prime for Blackroses, also pay the Part B of social security for medicare. The closest military base to us is 70 miles away. And when I did go there they had nothing but generic medicine. 0 -
im not sure about the drug companies themselves, but my dad is a pharmacists and to him blue cross is a swear word. they screw him EVERY chance they get... 0 -
Yeah, Blame Bush...Morons 0 -
Why is it the governments fault that the pharmacies are price gauging? The insurance companies are making millions because their profit margin is base on a percent of costs, just like all companies. The more the drug companies charge the higher the costs.
If one really wants cheaper prices, then the approach is the one that starts with the real cluperts which are the drug companies, the hospitals, and the MDs.
The over night charge JUST to sleep over night in a hospital is about $2500. Then there the doctors that that have nothing to do with you, come in and bill the insurance company for a consultation charge. Those doctors basically come in read your chart and leave.
All of this raises our premium rates because the insurance pays for it. If they don't pay then you will have to pay.
And for all you republicans and right wingers just remember Medicare and social security is just socialism anyway. Just another way of taking money from the people so we don't have as much. Wealth is just a point spread0 -
Classic, that ain't nothing new. You've just been lucky up til now if you haven't been paying the big bucks for any of your prescriptions. It doesn't matter which kind of TRICARE you have, the prescription part is the same for all of them. Free at a government owned and operated pharmacy such as military installations or VA. Three prices at the local pharmacy. For a thirty day supply, Generic is $3.00, brand name is $9.00 and non-formulary is $22.00. a ninety day supply is $9.00, $27.00 and $66.00. You can use the mail order system and get a ninety day supply for the thirty day price.
Living close to a military installation wouldn't help you much because they always have everything except what you need.0 -
James: I have been retired from the military for 32 years and never paid more than 9 bucks for any prescription, If the Doctor rights the script "Fill as Ordered" I paid 9 bucks for the medicine not to be replaced with a generic for 3 bucks.
GRIFF59: The pharmacies place the blame on Bush, after all it was his "New Plan" for drug coverage in the US he signed into law. It gave the drug companies the right to exclude any drug they deemed too expensive from their plans. Ever since it went into policy they have been trying to push generic drugs off on people instead of what their doctors prescribe. Every time I get a rewrite on my scripts the doctor must write "Fill as written" or they shove the generics on me.Now the companies use the "That drug is not on our preferred list" .My question is when did the Insurance companies get to decide what medication a person takes when prescribed by a doctor?
It isnt a matter of the $22.00 it is the principle of the thing. 52 years ago when a person enlisted in the service there was a promise of totally free medical benefits for the rest of your life and your wife included if you stayed 20 years or more and retired in good standing with the government. Well It never happened.. Congress even agreed the promise was made, but since no one made it a law, they have been able to screw the military people at will. Even as they are doing today with people in the service.[:(]
"Medicare and social security is just socialism anyway"
This was also "LAW" people had no choice but to pay into the system and I believe that anyone who paid into it fo 40 or more years is entitled to get something.
My Post isnt about Social Security or medicare, It is about the Military people and theMilitary retired people and how they are getting screwed around not only by the Drug companies and Insurance companies but their gubmenmt as well.0 -
Bush did it? Didn't the democraticly controlled house pass it?
My private insurance is worse. Used to be $15 copay. Then went to $15 for generic, $40 for name brand. Now it's $25 for generic, $40 for name brand, and 50% for name brand that they designate as abnormally high. I pay $136 a month for one of my heart medications.0 -

GRIFF59: ? ? ? As I said, if you haven't paid more than the $9.00 before now, you've been lucky. TRICARE didn't change or become part of any of the other "old folks" drug programs. TRICARE made some changes a while back, but not part of the "cheap drugs for old folks" deal. If you have signed up for any of the other programs, you probably made a mistake.
TRICARE Prime is just another word for HMO. If you have MEDICARE and TRICARE for life, I can't see any reason to have TRICARE Prime. That has nothing to do with drugs anyway. TRICARE for life just picks up the co-pay and deductible from MEDICARE.
If you are just complaining about getting lied to about free medical care for life, you have a valid complaint, but $3.00 ain't free either. We did get screwed, but the court didn't agree.
The free medical care for life we were promised didn't include the local civilian doctor and the friendly neighborhood pharmacy, but that's kind of beside the point. It did include free medical care for life. Now that its pretty well established that we got screwed, and it ain't gonna happen, we might as well go on to something else.0 -
Tri-Care for life, kicked in when I turned 65, I no longer had to pay for it as I did for the 25 years after retirement. Another way we got screwed. However I still have to pay for Beths Tri-care prime.
And the Cheap drugs for old folks plan of Bushie would have cost me more than I was paying for scripts as it was so I wasnt fooled into buying into that plan. As far as medical services I am not complaining other than the fact we have to pay for something that was promised free but I am past that, I just dont like some freakin insurance company dictating what medications they pay for or not and at their whim deciding a drug that I have been taking for 5 years is now on their "Not Preffered" list.
Just in the newspaper today. "Senate Defeats Prescription Drug Bill" This bill would have allow cheaper drug making companies to compete in the drug market. Reported that this was a coup for the Expensive drug companies that there would be no competition for them and they can maintain their current rip off of the American people.0 -
You guys would like my health insurance. I pay $7.00 per prescription,.........doesn't matter if it is generic, or the highest dollar scrip out there.
Don't get excited,.......I pay about $380.00 per month, it is my own private insurance, and the only time I use the scrip benefit, is if I need an antibotic, or something like Allegra for allergies, as thank God, I am in very good health so far.0 -
At least you knew up front what you were getting. hundreds of thousands of American Military were lied to. If it was told up Front that there would be costs, no problem. We were just flat out lied to to entice us to stay in the service for 20 or more.[:(] But whats new with the government.. Lips moving, lies are being told. 0 -
You took my post wrong,.........I totally agree with you! You should get what you were promised when you chose to spend that amount of time in the military.
I was just showing another aspect. You deserve what you were told![;)]0 -
There is a Bird Colonel with the case still in the Supreme court trying to get the US government to stand by that promise. He keeps hitting the stone wall of "Well no one ever declared it a law" and the Supreme court and Congress has admitted that the ploy was used by recruiters to retain and to entice people to enlist and stay. I wont see a change in my lifetime, but would caution future possible enlistees to make sure up front of what they are getting into..sometimes I beging to understand why there are more desertions in todays army. People getting tired of being lied to and screwed.. 0
