m1 carbine in 9mm?!?

Didn't know these ever got made, but there is one in great shape sitting on local shops shelf... takes Browning Hi Power mags. Made by Iver Johnson (IIRC)

Anyone know what these are worth, how well they work (compared to standard 30 carbine Carbine), etc?

I did some googling, found out they made a 45acp version of it too at some point.
