I currently have Home and Auto thru Metlife.
Where I worked they sent me 2 other choices
for retirees with the work discount.
I called Travelers and Liberty mutual for
quotes to see if I could save a few bucks.
Neither of those companies will insure a log
cabin, only Metlife out of the three
    at $1800/yr.
Me thinks I'll stay with Metlife.

I tried AARP, boy I got a scare.
I had to go to florida farm bureau for home owners,
I checked with them on auto, saved me $147 every 6 months.
    statefarm lost all my business

Have you guys heard how much
    the insurance companies want to
increase their premiums? I wonder if
this is some convoluted end run
to get our support for gov't
    health care

I have renter's insurance through State Farm for my appartment and it has standard firearm coverage built into it. I asked if I had to provide serial numbers and pictures and was told no. I just claim them as "lost/stolen" and get paid for them. Which I do not believe. I will NOT provide serial numbers and/or pictures to anyone. That is one more way for big brother to know what everyone has.

Your homeowners will only cover a about $1,000 to $2500 or so without a special addition, even if you document everything you own. Get the rider, or get secondary insurance via the NRA or similar.

Or "self insure" and get a big big safe and properly secure it.
