Best CCW revolver for the money
Ok, let me hear what your thoughts are on the best ccw revolvers. I've got an itch for one and am looking heavily at the S&W J-frames, but the only thing holding me back now is the sticker shock. Thanks for all input.

I would recommend a Ruger SP101. Not that heavy and built to last. 0 -
My opinion is, and this is only my opinion, is that the S&W Bodyguard is the best and that is what I carry when I do carry a revolver.

S&W 640 (357mag)----wife carries one
S&W Model 60-9 (357mag)----my "new" carry
If you go with a S&W, hold out for a "pre-lock". Harder to find but most preferred.0 -
Smith and Wesson 340sc is what I wear daily. At 12oz unloaded, I hardly feel it there. Worth every penny I paid for it, IMO. Dang accurate for a snubby, too. Now, it ain't no fun to shoot, but I have other guns that fit that bill![:D]
Taurus makes a few ultralights, and I would probably own one if the price was right. I just am not so sure about thier committment to customer service based on a lot of responses by folks on internet forums like this.0 -

You might want to take a look at some used J Frames. As long as its a good shooter it wouldn't matter if the finish is worn, which would afford you a better price tag. Carry guns develope wear over time anyways. 0 -
I like the S&W 60-18 .357. Its got a 5" barrel and a small hammer, but it is very thin and light and will fit into a deep pants or jacket pocket. Its a good target or kit gun too, so its good for me because I rarely carry. Not too expensive too, got mine for $425 new. 0 -
Charter Arms Bulldog.
Most bang for the buck.

+1 When I carry a revolver, it's an old S&W M-37 Airweight. Got it real cheap 'cause the prior owner (a good friend) carried it a lot in his pocket, along with his car keys, loose change and pocket knife by the looks of the finish. He bought it new, shot less than 50rds. I bobbed the hammer with my Dremel and installed a clip for Mexican carry.0 -

You won't go wrong with any Smith & Wesson J frame. My favorite is the S&W 60-9 .357 magnum five shooter with factory bobbed hammer and double action trigger job. Polite Psycho went with a J frame, and you know he's a pretty smart guy.
The S&W J frame is the size and weight that you will be willing to carry every day, and that's the first requirement of a CCW. It ain't no good if you ain't got it.0 -

Again JamesRK is right on target. The J frame is an ideal carry gun, but a bit of trigger work will be a nice improvement.0 -

I have to admit, while I've owned several Taurus products over the years with no problems, if it was a matter of picking one gun to protect and serve I'd rather have a used S&W instead of a new Taurus for the same money.

The M-36 is a great gun and can be found at a good price, but take a look at a new Rossi or a used Dan Wesson for less expensive alternatives. 0 -

I broke my neck and don't get around to good anymore, I carry a Charter arms bulldog, 44 special shoots 2" group's at 25 yards with my hand loads. 0 -

I carried one of those CA Bulldog 44spl for years in the 80s
I loved that revolver but I about wore it out shooting it so much.
If I ever regreted selling a firearm it was that one because it was my constant companion on many outdoor treks.0 -
