I pay my credit cards off every month. I never pay a finance charge. I keep getting letters from people wanting to loan me money. They can all kiss my ass.

Clue: If you want a credit history get a Sears account and buy something on time. By the time you pay it off you will have a credit history.

    I'm not debt free. [:(]

I have always payed my credit cards off every month. Never payed anything to them. When I got my first card they gave me a limit of $500, still have and use the same card, limit is $18000. Yes, you can build credit without having to make payments.

The only debt I have is on my home. Had to take a mortgage, but I am whittling that down. Try to pay on principal whenever I can. But sometimes I NEED a gun purchase[:D].

Everybody is trying to get (more?) credit cards. Need I say more? I see a big new truck headed down the road towing a big new boat. How do they afford it? They don't. They are in debt up to their ass. Probably got a large new house full of expensive furniture that they can't afford too.

This year I cancelled 4 credit cards that had never even been used. Why I had them I don't even know. Everyone told me NOT to cancel them as it would hurt my credit score. I just wanted to be rid of them. I have two credit cards, one I use regularly and one as a backup if the first doesn't swipe.

I see what your saying about new trucks and boats etc. Younger guys than me are all driving brand new 4 door, 4x4 trucks and buying ATV's etc. I wonder how they can manage. I have a 94 S-10 and as long as it runs, that is probably what I will have. All my furniture is donated.

Only thing I spent money on inside my house was three gunsafes a big TV (on sale and coupons) and a good surround sound.

I have a friend just like you referred to Ruger,.........brand new truck for he AND his wife, just bought a small boat, and already had a 26 foot RV.
They are in debt up to their eyeballs,.......one missed paycheck, and they are in major trouble.
They were going to build a house, but now can't qualify for a mortgage, so they live in a mobile home, on his wifes mothers property! I don't get it.[:(]

Ruger,......I wasn't taking a shot at "mobile homes"!
The mobile home, is NOT even theirs, it belongs to the mother of his wife.
They have a piece of property, but can't afford to do anything with it.[;)]

    Marc, I was kidding.

Mobile homes get looked down upon, but most people don't realize what they can be now.

My "mobile" home is 28' wide and 76' long. It is a very big and very comfortable house. I upgraded everything at the factory and customized the layout before it was built. It upped the price quite a bit but it still was alot cheaper and quicker than stick built.

The wife and I have our college bills and her car. I paid cash for my truck when I bought it 6 years ago and will probably drive it until it rust apart. The wife has a one year old car though, cause we were paying on her old car and it just kept having problem after problem. I hated having to pay more in keeping it running then I was in monthly payments, so we went and bought a new car that doesn't have problems. All of those things should be paid off between 3-5 years.

Yep..Me..Finally after getting as divorce from my..finally.It took a while.I had to pay off a house that I don't live in, a car that I don't drive..Aww, that's all unimportant history. I guess she had complaints too.

What counts is that I am retired with three incomes, owe nothing to anybody, and do as I please. Have more than I need, all I want, some to spare.

But guess what. I've found it's all just crap anyway. Your belongings own YOU, not the other way around. What counts is health, family, amusement, and room for changes.

Slugging away at it.[:D] Both cars paid. 12 years left on house if we make the normal payment. Use charge card for gas but pay off each month which really pisses off the CC company. Did buy a new used boat on a secured loan using money I made off the sale of my old boat.
Now if I could just get rid of the private skrewl tuition for 2 and the daycare for 1, I'd have plenty of liquid assets.

Yep. I have two credit cards, one for emergency uses only(vehicle breaks down, etc.) and the other I use often to build up free points(Cabela's card). I pay this one off every month and everytime I use it, I put the money in en envelope. By the time my monthly bill is due, I have all money to pay it in that envelope[;)]. Debt free right now besides a few school loans, but I rent right now and don't own my own house yet.

I only carry a mortgage and it's not that big anymore.

Im only three years into my 30 year mortgage, but I overpay everymonth so that it will be paid off in another 18 years. Credit cards get paid every month. I just have to learn how to control the impulse buys that have become a habit (mauser, kimber,Chevelle parts).
