223 ammo price
Just got back from Wallyworld and spent a little over $13 for 40 rounds of 223 fmj. It was the UMC brand. Back in October I got 80 rounds of Winchester for a little under $17. It was in two 40 round "value packs". I asked if they would be getting any more like that and they stated probably not.
I went from spending $.20 a round to $.33 a round. Guess I'll just save up and do a bulk purchase. I haven't done one in a while because I don't shoot that much and usually just pick up what I'm going to shoot at the store. But with prices going up over 50% a round I don't see any alternative.
Heck I might even stop being an ammo snob and take a chance on the new Wolf without the lacquer coating. I figure extractors will be less expensive in the long run

Just buy guns that shoot 22lr in the future. The ammo cost will never be a problem compared to others. 0 -

Sadly, this is my plan. I thought I had left having to shoot only .22's in my childhood and as an adult I had graduated to the centerfire calibers. Guess not.0 -

+1 I'll shoot 2 or 3 bricks of 22 before I ever shoot a box of centerfire. It's sad.0 -
Your suspicions are correct.
I noticed the same thing a while back when they opened a new supercenter.

Gander Mountain had quite a bit of brass cased ADCOM brand .223 for $3.99/20 when I was there this week. 0
