News & Quotes Regarding Banks
From an e-mail:
One probable reason for the continued existence and flourishing of the Fed (or Central Banks) is that the American people don't KNOW that our Forefathers warned us in no uncertain terms against them. They don't KNOW that the Fed is (or, more precisely, Central Banks are) privately-owned. They also don't KNOW that the Fed operates as an extra-constitutional power, unanswerable to the people or to Congress, and then only because of the people's ignorance. Only Congress is given the power to create money, and they have let that power slip through their fingers, for want of courage in dealing with a 'hot' issue.
Americans should be strongly encouraged to go back and read everything they can about the Fed, and how it is an arm of powerful international banking powers that would strip us of our sovereignty as a nation by stripping every vestige of value from our currency.
We can find a lot of the reasoning behind the Constitution and Bill of Rights in the Federalist Papers, which are accessible online. (Google "Central Banks Federalist Papers")
An informed electorate is a powerful electorate (and we are NOT going to get that information in the mainstream media).... and freedom is not free. Only our ignorance and our laziness stands between the demise of America as we know it and America's salvation.
The Central Bank is an institution of the most deadly hostility existing against the principles and form of our Constitution...if the American people allow private banks to control the issuance of their currency, first by inflation and then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all their property until their children will wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered." -- Thomas Jefferson
"I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. Already they have raised up a monied aristocracy that has set the government at defiance. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs." -- Thomas Jefferson
"If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered." -- Thomas Jefferson
"All the perplexities, confusion and distress in America arise not from defects in their Constitution or Confederation, nor from want of honor or virtue, so much as downright ignorance of the nature of coin, credit and circulation." --John Adams
And on a different subject: "The opinion which gives to the judges the right to decide what laws are constitutional and what not... would make the Judiciary a despotic branch." (Hello, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, are you listening???)
Knowledge and ignorance, "Notes on Virginia " : A popular government without popular information, or the means of acquiring it, is but a prologue to a farce or a tragedy, or perhaps both. Knowledge will forever govern ignorance, and a people who mean to be their own governors must arm themselves with the power which knowledge gives." -James Madison

Pass out the tin hats. The fed has kept the economy from the sharp dips that caused the great depression. If you want to go back to another great depression then do away with the fed. 0 -

So instead of one bank issuing one currency, you want dozens or even hundreds of banks issuing their own seperate currencies?
We've already tried that. That was the state of banking in the US back before the civil war, and it didn't work. Why do you think Europe went through the whole trouble to implement the Euro?0 -

what is he wrong about? the quotes?
Nearly everything.
You don't see what is wrong in the comparison of your quote and his?
Here's one for you.
Myth #3: The Federal Reserve is a privately owned bank that profits at taxpayer expense.
Reality: The member banks in each district privately own each of the 12 Federal Reserve banks. However, the government-appointed Board of Governors controls these banks. Also, the Federal Reserve System rebates almost all of its profits to the Treasury each year, actually REDUCING the taxpayer burden.
It is available on this website, and it's one that even you might be able to comprehend.
