Has anyone ever had this happen to them?
Won and auction. Sent the funds. Got a tracking #. USPS said its delivered. FFL said never got it. USPS said contact local PD. Local PD said its a USPS issue. ATF said just fax the report. There is a handgun on the streets, I am out my $$$ and in the middle.
I am telling the news this whole story next cuz noone gives a damn.

I'm assuming you paid by check, MO or some such thing - correct? If you paid by CC you could dispute, so if that's the case dispute the charge as item never delivered.
If you paid with your money, step one is to have USPS prove it was delivered. I'm certain there's a procedure in place for that as it must happen from time to time.
Was the item insured? If so, file a claim.
If USPS can demonstrate it was delivered to your dealer then you have to deal with him. Be careful with USPS saying it was delivered & signed for - make them produce the documentation, then compare it to the dealer's known signature. UPS tried to say I signed for something when I did not and the receipt showed that was the case.
That's as far as I can go, someone else who has been in a similar fix will be along I'm sure.0 -
Heard lots of stories of guns/packages getting delivered to the wrong address, several houses/businesses down from the correct one. Maybe a quick knock on a few neighbors doors will turn up something.
Can't imagine an FFL risking his license to steal your gun.

Well I'm confused. In your post you said that the seller claims he did not receive your payment, how would that be putting a "handgun on the streets"? 0 -
What is missing? The gun or the money? The first part of your post leads me to think the money is missing. 0 -
I know this subject has been addressed before but can a non FFL even receive a handgun through USPS? 0 -
I think some of us are reading this wrong I read it as the seller received funds provided a tracking number thru USPS which means the seller was a ffl holder as a non-licensee cannot ship handguns thru the postal service if it says adult signature required the can leave it at any address[ don't see USPS doing this as much as UPS but if they say it was delivered have them show you who, when and where if it is a signature that matches your ffl you gotta take it up with them 0 -
Contact local PD my FOOT! This WAS US Postal Service- right? Contact the Postal Inspector Service. Idiots at local post office left a box of 12 new handguns (adult signature required) sitting at the roadside mailbox for a local dealer. And yes- to MAIL a handgun, with VERY few exceptions, it must go from a FFL DEALER or MANUFACTURER to a FFL DEALER or MANUFACTURER. Per ATF regs, a collector (03 FFL) and importer may not use the mail for handguns. Long guns, yes. Handguns, no. 0
