an "AS IS" auction? I see it a lot. "IT WORKS GREAT BUT IS SOLD AS IS" Bull crap. I won't even look at it after reading that.

I have bought a few as is auctions in the past only because I had lots of parts or it was something I could pass on even if it did not work.

I generally put "AS IS" in my auctions. If you're not sure you want it, don't bid. That seems pretty simple. 0 -
The seller is more than likely trying to keep a bidder from getting it and then want his money back after he gets his hands on it for some dumb reason. 0 -

Sure, if it's what I'm looking for and the seller has good feedback. A lot of sellers are afraid of receiving a gun back with damage or switched parts. "As is" protects them from having to take a gun back unless there's misrepresentation involved. 0 -
I like the sold as is guns because people are afraid to bid on them and they can go real cheap.
I have picked up some real nice revolvers that just needed a spring or two and they were as good as new.0 -
I just sold an item AS IS. I think it serves a few purposes. For one if the seller is trying to make money and doesnt want the thing back. Number two if something is wrong with it then it provides a loop hole, but the seller should disclose if anything is wrong with it. Third the buyer can not break something and put it on the seller and want his money back. For the buyer AS IS is cheaper sometimes. I used to be amazon and sold books, ever since one incident I have gone as is on everything, I dont trust the buyers or the mail people, so once its out of my hands, no more worries. 0 -
AS IS could be a good policy to follow, take a look at used cars, dealer cant gaurentee that the car wont break down or that there is nothing wrong with the car therefor there is the AS IS policy declared on the window sticker.
Same should apply with used guns, as long as the seller declares the gun works but is selling it "as is" I see no problem..0 -

It can certainly be thought that by putting "as is" on it the seller has disclosed that something is wrong with it. That said, I have seen "Sold as is" on NIB guns offered on GB and other sites.
I assume a dealer is using it to cover his six.

On a used item sure I would. Not very many places offer a warrentee on anything used.
All my used item are an "AS IS". That being said I don't miss represent anything either. I allways include pictures of the item and state clearly that it is used.
Now if a person buying my used item had a good reason on why he felt I missrepresented that item then I probly would take it back. But he better have that good reason.0 -

IF I am buying as a source of parts, and it is advertised as a parts gun- sure. If I am buying it as a safe, functional, reliable weapon, and seller says "Works fine, no problems, shoots great- AS IS, no returns", well.... I have worked long and hard to cultivate this gullible look. But I ain't that dumb. No way. 0
