Because they think it's valuable?
Check the ones for sale here on GB for an idea of it's value. Maybe the Pachmayr work makes it more collectible. You should also ask in the Ask The Experts forum.
The syntax seems a bit off but it sounds like a friend of yours has inherited this gun from his father? If his father used to carry it on duty, it has a value beyond price and if I were in his place I wouldn't sell it if I were starving.0 -
Ivory- I THINK you have a Colt Police Positive Special DA (Double Action) revolver- Pachmayr made aftermarket grips, not guns. The Police Positive Special was similar to the Police Positive, but had a larger frame to use larger ammo. The 32-20 caliber was discontinued in 1942. They started making them in 1907. Value will depend on condition- about $300 and up. They were nice revolvers. If you will post EVERYTHING marked on the gun, number of shots, barrel length, finish (blued, nickeled) and PICTURES- others here may have more info. 0
