My dumb idea seems to be working
Yellow jackets are real bad this year so I did the traps etc.
But I did try something new, I have a Flowtron bug zapper and a put a cotton ball between the florescent light bulb thats U shaped and put a splash of the yellow jacket attractant on it. Seems to work good, but you can tell the bees know there is an electrical field there.
ZAP! Zap! Zap![:D]
And other ideas for controlling the little buggers? They seem to like a freshly cut lawn. WHY?

Could be the yellow jackets have a cotton fetish. Don 0 -
They decided that the intake tube to my forklift would be a good place for a nest this year. Well no I use that thing.
Got bit slightly on one hand. And used by standby yellow jacket killer (carb spray: Berrymans).
I had to make a yellow jacket proof cover for the intake, and parked it on the other side of the shop for a few days.0 -
I had a bunch build a nest in the intake of my chipper/shredder, boy was that fun[:D]. just started it up and let it run, by the time they figured out something was wrong it was to late........chopped wasps any one?[}:)] 0 -
Take a 2 liter plastic soda bottle (empty, of course) Cut the bottle at the shoulder. You should have two pieces- the main body, looks like a 2 liter mug, and the top, which, turned upside down, looks like a funnel. Turn it so the neck is down, and press it into the body about an inch. Add an inch of sugar water, soda, etc, and set a few out on the ground in areas where you have yellow jackets. They fly in, can't fly back out, drown in liquid. When they get stinky, throw the whole mess away, make another. 0
