Thieves are cashing in around here. Stealing air conditioner compressors----anything with copper. 0 -
Down here in SE Louisiana, it's going for about $2.00 a pound, or so. Price goes either way from week to week. Also, if you have over a certain weight,(down here, over 300 lbs), you can get a higher price per pound. 0 -
Last week here in Asheville the cops busted two guys stealing copper in broad daylight. These guys had put a homemade sign, "Joe's Air Conditioning Repair" on their truck.
The parked behind the old WalMart that was abandoned a year ago when they built the SuperWalmart.
They climbed up on the roof and were taking apart the a/c for the copper.
Somebody thought it looked suspicious and called 911.0 -
About a year ago I got $2.71 a pound. I Sold 832 pounds. 0 -

If I'm not mistaken, that's what the local scrap yards get, and the individual gets less. The scrap yard has to make money.0 -
if you go to a major scrap yard like i go to you get real close to it 0 -

The closest one for me is two hours away. Not worth the extra gas money, unless you have some serious weight.0 -
Funny you should ask since I just picked up a price list yesterday so that I had an idea when I loaded up some scrap I'm cutting up with the torch.
#1 Copper was $2.65/lb.[:)]0
