Interesting information about the end of the month opportunity! Makes sense, I guess if they are running promotions.

Does that opportunity increase as you get closer to the model year end??

I do know you get much better deals on the generic models that the dealer stocks in inventory.

A window of opportunity like that is very small, and pretty uncommon.

The dealer has to be very close to their bonus ... but not there ... and not so far away that they can't make it ...
... then on top of everything else they would also have to be broke.

When my family owned a Dodge dealership, we would buy the needed units rather than take a $5,000 loss ... even if they were 4-5 cars away ... and we still got the bonus money.

The smart dealer makes good deals all month long so they don't get into that position.

I don't know who you are mad at ... but it shows.

I had no idea i got the response i did on the first. I went over the finance part. There was some questions i did get to. The biggest was "go through own bank?" FOR SURE. New car buying? People say go to the dealer at the last 2 days of month..True? Oh yes!!!! Say your buying a chrysler,,, well the dealer gets a bonus on the new cars they sell if they meet there quota. Say you have a 5 star dealer in your area and they do 75-100 new cars per month on average. If they do 100 cars in a month they get an extra 500.00 per car or 50,000 in bonus money. Sooooooooo if they have 94 cars out on the 29-30-31st they will sell you a new car at a 5000.00 loss to makes that 50k,,,MAKES SENSE DONT IT...ALWAYS GO AT THE END OF THE MONTH...BEST DEALS NEW OR USED,,PERIOD...INVOICE IS A JOKE ON NEW CARS...LIKE THE GUY WHO SAID IN MY LAST THREAD THAT HE WORKS AT A DEALER FOR EXTRA CASH..HE SAID HIS 2 CENTS ABOUT HE KNOWS EVERYTHING...HES A SALESMAN...THEY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THE INSIDE...IF A DEALER SELLS A CAR FOR 200 UNDER INVOICE THE DEALER IS STILL MAKING 1500.00 MIN AKA HIDDEN CASH....I WILL WAIT FOR QUESTIONS AND TRY AND RESPOND...LIKE I SAID MY GIFT TO YOU GUYS...I CAN SAVE YOU THOUSANDS[:p]
    +1 thank you!!

Take a calculator, a pen, and a pad. Take the sticker price and subtract 14%. Drop you offer $500-$1000 below that and start haggling. If you get the car for 14% or better off of sticker, you done good. Make sure you get any and all factory rebates, not the dealer.
Dealers order cars all throughout the month, not just the end. If your'e lucky you'll get'em when they need/want to make an order. The shipping cost to the dealer is the same if it's one or ten cars on the trailer.
Don't worry about the dealership you buy from. The salesman and the sales manager are the people you need to worry with. Don't like your salesperson? Grab another one. They are in competition with each other. They want to sell cars, whether they make $50 or $1000.
Have your financing ready when you shop. The sales folks are a lot more likely to give you a deal if you your'e ready and they don't have to spend an inordinant amount of time with you. A quick sale is quick money and everbody likes quick easy money.

Ummmm ... gee you think we just threw those cars away?

    That would be stupid.

A few we donated a few to charitable organizations like Red Cross and Big Brothers and took the tax write-off, but most we sold the next month without loosing money, and got the bonus too ...Its called good business.

Like I said, what you are talking about is a small window of opportunity ... and if you have ever owned or managed a new car dealership, you know it. We've only been in that window 5-6 times in 40 years of business ... normally we are at 130% or more of our objective.

Had ... as in we don't have Dodge any more, dumped them in 1985 and went with GM.

Just shoot me an email when you are ready. I'm the Internet sales manager at the Topeka store so if its a Chevy I'll be happy to let you know what I can sell you one for and I'll even tell you how much hold back is ... if we have it in stock, depending on how long we've had it will determine if we give any (hold back) up or not. I'll sell it to you or you can take that info to your local dealer and use the info as a lever.

I generally stay out of these discussions but I've made this offer before ... and it still stands.

car dealers nightmare- have not bought a NEW vehicle since 1971. Spend $21K on a car that will be worth $5K in 2 years? Would not do that with a gun, a house, etc.
