Today's BS story....
I was working yesterday when this younger (19-20) year old kid walks up and just starts talking rifles. Essentially, him and his dad own just about every rifle on the face of the Earth, from 10/22's to 3,500 hundred dollar whatevers.
His dad dropped, in Indiana (where rifle hunting is illegal) a buck (that scored 272 P&Y) running with a single shot out of an M14 @ 250yds.
This kid just sat and talked for 3-4 hours on end. The best story was some 22 that he had. They bought 2 - $20, 50rd boxes of match ammo, then shot two different targets at 100yds, all 50 in each target went through the same ragged hole.
I'd engage another customer (someone that was willing to buy a gun, not this kid who just wanted to sit and talk). I'd show the customer a few rifles, make my suggestions on caliber and manufacturer and this kid would follow us up and down the place adding his 2 cents about every 30 seconds.
Drove me nuts.

The burden of "customer relations."
You know you wanna kick this kid's @$$ but good.
You know you could kick this kid's @$$ but good.
But as a business owner/employee/poor dude stuck behind the counter, you can't kick the kid's @$$ but good.
I'm willing to bet that kid grows up to be one of those fake Green Delta Special Air Grey SEAL sniper long range recon wet work operatives that crop up like mushrooms after every war.
Today it's shooting targets at 100 yards with a .22.
Tomorrow it's gonna be "slotting" some "raghead" at 1.2 miles with an unsighted .338.[xx(]0 -
Total crap.... I'm the only one I've ever heard of that ever put 100 rds thru a single ragged hole!!! 0 -
Well, now you know the truth of this kids life, there is no dad, he has been shooting once and he spends all of his free time reading Guns & Ammo and playing Big Game Hunter on PS2. He is also trying real hard to impress someone (you) to give himself a value to his young pathetic life. 0 -
yep i know the type, a friend of mine who knows very little about guns called awhile back to ask me a value of a rifle some guy was trying to sell him, the guy claimed he shot 1" groups at 1,500 yards WITH IRON SIGHTS, he wanted 1,000 bucks for a rem 700 due to its phenomenal accuracy work it has had, i told him i would put up 1,000 bucks, and i know several others that will as well if he could do it at 200 yards, if he can he keeps his rifle, and the money, if he can't i keep the money and the rifle, nether one has heard back from him
i recently had a new employee of a gun/range where i am friends with the owner give me on the spot pistol lessons, i stood there and watched his shenanigans for 20 min, he had no ideal who i was at the time, i told a few other guys who shoot competition with me about it, they laughed their butts off, and asked me was i going to let him know who i was, i said no it will be our secret funny, this is the range i ruled 1st place competition for 18 months strait, and the owner watched me win a dozen major championships0 -
You sure his dad isn't over at Locust Fork's place?[:D][:D] 0 -
what Mk19 said... but perhaps not so cynical. when the serious customer isn't nearby, ask the kid to please stop getting in the way, you're trying to make a sale. 0 -
what ticks me off is theres a kid at school named ethan, mr meyer and I was talkin bout if we reload and whatnot, he decided to chime in and say "its not reloading, its refilling." 0 -

Well damn! Don0 -
Look at the bright side. This kid probally won't be voting to ban guns. 0 -
I got you all beat> I know a guy that shot two guys at the same time with one bullet. One guy was on his left and the other was on his right (not lined up). He held up a hatchet in front of the barrel and split the bullet in half as it came out hitting both guys. Beat that.[:D][:D]
And if you believe that I will tell you about a man that was a boilerman on a nuclear powered submarine. He said it was hot down there with that lead suit on shoveling uranium.[:D][:D]0 -
Cubs....you are an angel for putting up with the nut jobs and not making him look silly. You are a real asset to the place. I hope they know it. Well.....I had better get back to posting my auctions (I don't want to let you down!) [:D] 0 -
Stopped in shop few years back- owner was talking with customer, and youngster came in and jumped into the conversation about .300 win mag loads. After a few minutes, owner introduced me to his friend he had been talking with. Carlos Hathcock. [:p] 0
