would this thing not wear out after a couple hundred rounds???

Again, only an idiot would murder someone with a gun they had just purchased...

At least on a 1911, you can just replace the barrel and chamber simultaneously.

Maybe it sounds good in the media, but it's another stupid law that easily can be circumvented by any intelligent person.

Gun get's stolen. Gun get's used in a murder. Original owner get convicted of murder one. Bad Idea.

Wouldn't it be easier, for firearms manufacturers, to simply quit selling guns in that state? If the people get riled up enough, because there are NO NEW guns, they could change things.

Of course, that is what the ANTI's want to happen.

I blame the NRA for not coming up with the idea in the first place!

Of course it's BS; it's an ELECTION YEAR!

They should go Judge Dread and put a DNA stamp of the shooter on each bullet (not case) as it is fired.

    I like the idea.

I want my stamp to read:

    TED KENNEDY [:D]

like others said there will be ways around it. For one all the guns that around now, dont have it, all the stolen guns that will be out there. Number two, im sure there would be an easy way to mechanically alter the pistol.

But at the same time it could help the police. And if you are a law abiding gun owner then why do you care, because you should be using your stuff legally

I think we put monitors in every U.S household so the police can check up on us if they so desire.....

After all, we shouldn't be doing anything illegal anyways [xx(]

It would be really effective just like serial #'s. Could'nt you file it off?

where would it stamp the cartridge and where on the gun would the stamp be located? If it's on the firing pin, just change the firing pin. If it's somewhere else, just file it off. Anything that leaves an impression that small can't be very robust and resistant to force, intentional or otherwise.

Nards- would help the police. R I G H T.... just like the "ballistic fingerprinting" of guns in MD. After a couple of million $$$, and a couple of years, do you know how many crimes have been solved by having a sample cartidge case and fired bullet on file? None. Several years back, the Feds required that commerical explosives by compunded with "taggants"- cermaic microchips blended into the explosives that would allow you to identify the lot number from the residue left after an explosion. No consideration of the cost of the 12 MILLION lbs of explosivwes used legally each day in the US. But they DID manage to blow up two explosive manufacturing plants- seems the explosives were not compatible with the taggant chips. Still trying to regulate THINGS when the problems are PEOPLE.
