I think I would chose the 308 cant go wrong with it and the price of the ammo is a lot cheaper the the 7mm wsm and can be got just about anywere that sells ammo.
just my 2cents [:D]0 -

Go .308. You.ll be glad you did. Put as good a glass on as you can afford, maybe a little more. Get it zeroed with the proper ammo and you'll never regret it and never get rid of it. 0 -

I have both the 308 and 7mm mag but not the wsm as far as just getting it to have ya Id buy one, but if it was my only one to hunt with for right now Id still say the 308 but it all comes down to what you like better my problem is I like them all [}:)][:D][:D]0 -
I use a .308 and/or a 30-06. I use to have a 7mm WSM. Just on this side of being a tank round. It'soo much for just deer hunting unless you are always shooting long distances. Then the 7mm WSM has some merit. 0 -
7MM wsm is a yuppie cartridge.
.308 = good.
I REALLY like the 7MM-08.

I dont care to shoot long distance. 100yrds is the most Im after.
Seems like the 308 is the way to go. I can buy that in battle packs[:p]0 -
If you are only looking at 100 yards, the .308 is the way to go.
Ammo is much cheaper and the 7mm WSM leaves a lot on the table at 100 yards.
Plus you have the advantage of a common bolt face and an extra round in the magazine with the .308.0 -
I like the .308 round, very efficient in every way. They can come out with all the new calibers they want and I will still like the .308.

under 200 yds stick with the .308 0 -
308 for cost and availability of ammo...If you just want a 7mm round go with the 7mm-08. 0 -
I own both .308's and 7MM WSM's.
Deer at 100 yards max. Go with the 308.
The .308 has great knock down power out to and beyond 100 yards.
A 7MM WSM is just getting settled in at 100 yards. Zero a good shooting 7MM WSM in at 250 yards and you are good from 100 to well over 500 yards on White Tail deer or Ground Hogs.
It cost right at $2.00 per shot to shoot my 7MM WSM's using factory loaded 140 grain Federal Fusion ammo. $39.99 for a box of twenty rounds when purchased locally. Or I can order a 200 round case for around $310.00. I have never had a problem finding the rounds either.
Do not have a clue what the hell a "Yuppie Cartridge" is. For I love shooting a 7MM WSM even with the higher cost of ammo. If a 7MM WSM is in fact a "Yuppie Cartridge". Then a .50 cal BMG must be a Hilton or Rockefeller round?0 -
.308 hands down 0
