Gun shows... Siggggggggghhhhhh
Guns shows in this area have been a miserable waste the last few years. About 1/4 of the tables are people selling non gun related junk. Reloading supplies and equipment,one of my main reasons for attending shows, has become non existant.There used to be at least 2 or 3 dealers. I walked out of Grand Forks this weekend with one small bag of brass that I had to dig to the bottom of a box to find then wait about 15 minutes for the dealer to show up. Nobody had any TC stuff. The only casting equipment I saw was a few RB molds.Even ammunition was hard to find if you wanted it. I feel cheated.

Yea, few deals at the one I saw this weekend.
Lotsa well used 870s for $300(one even for $480 and it was a plain EXPRESS supermag with rust!)
Higher % of junk than I like.

I am sorry to say, your complaint has become a sad refrain, oft repeated. Worked the gun check table at the local show this past weekend myself. I came away with 2 pistol cases, a nylon holster, a book and an order in for a custom made skinning knife. Better than I hoped for. The turn out was up for this show and we saw a lot coming in and far more going out. Otherwise it was mostly as you say. Three reloading supply dealers, a few dealers with stores, most show only dealers. the Nuts table was there, the Goat Cheese Lady, but I must say no beanie babies, no sunglasses either. I guess these days they are as you find them and disappointing more often than not. 0 -
Now this thread has me rethinking a show coming up this weekend. It's supposed to be the second-largest in the state, but, as a buddy said about last year's show, it's more jam-and-blankets than guns. On the other hand, it will be a great place to find beef jerky, velvet paintings, rusty toys, old Life magazines, buffalo teeth and expired fatladyhouse tokens, so maybe I'll go.[;)]

Around here there's a gun show every few weeks(or less), last weekends was a 45min drive so I decided to stay home, but his weekends is only a 30min drive so I will be there, Troll'n for a deal[}:)]
Here in Houston everything is at least a 30 min drive[:D]
A couple show ago I traded one of my old SKS' for a Walther p22 with compensater, that is worth a $6 admission Fee! That was a fine SKS though...0 -
Well, I am glad to know that it isn't just the Gun Shows in Illinois that are suffering. A few years back there was Beanie Babies for sale. Not just a few, but a WHOLE ******* table worth. [xx(] Each gun show seems to progressively get worse in terms of junk firearms for premium prices. I always end up walking out with only brass, powder, primers, bullets or something small and cheap like a book or gun case. [:(] 0 -

Every Gun Show where High-Cap mags aren't $100 each is a good one, I still remember the dark days of the '93 omnibus crime bill. I even heard dealers remniscing in whispered tones[;)] 0 -
i always made it a point to drag my guns out and SHOW THEM. had the entire high standard line up under glass with little plaques telling all about it.
NO ONE SHOWS GUNS ANYMORE.

times changed i guess. i use to love shows where a guy use to set up his parkers and model 21's and just SHOW THEM! evey little detail and configuration. i went away from the SHOW educated. it use to be like, like going to a museum. the admission was WORTH IT!
the way it also worked was gun dealers use to LOVE US GUYS!
see, when the AUDIENCE would see a nice gun on display.....theyd go around looking for one and 99.9%, he'd find one and THATS THE WAY it was suppose to be!
the audience became a CUSTOMER at his own discretion.
today, people go into shows as CUSTOMERS seeking deals, not as an audience seeking education or info. CUSTOMERS are what STORES are for.

Went Sunday. Told my lady that I think that was my last show. Yeah, beef jerky, jerks with stun guns, blow guns, overpriced guns. Very few of the type that I like, and those wanted the pound of flesh nearest my heart. [xx(] 0
