Mini 14. I'm a big fan, and it shoots the 5.56/.223.

For a tad more you could get an Olympic arms AR

Brand new for less than that one...

...Doug and I will be bashed for it, but I like the mini also. I don't have mine anymore, but I do have a DPMS AR-15. In my experience, the vote for reliability and accuracy go to the mini, and mine was an old 180 series that get bashed the most.

who, me? jigsaw puzzle? they sell assembled uppers and lowers, even matched if you want, just get those... then all's you need is a buttstock. stick it together. easy.

er, well, need a barrel on the upper. might wanna call them about that.

    Other options...

    http://www.aimsurplus.com/acatalog/NEW_AK_WASR_RIFLE_w__Bayonet_Lug___Muzzle_Break.html

The 7.62x39 ammo will be much more common than the 5.45x39 round.

You'll have just as much fun with an AK as an AR. Cheaper to boot.

Spend the $320 on the AK, then the remaining 180 on a couple thousand rounds of ammo.[;)]

    That's the point, isn't it?[:p]

With an AR you're said to need a whole parts kit, firing pins, extractors, etc.

An AK? You just slap a magazine in it and pull the trigger, they just don't break.

If you arent going with the AR15 get a Ruger mini 14. Plenty of extras down the road!

Haven't shot the new ones yet, but the the new mini-14's are waaay more accurate than the older models according to the gun rags.

But as Pickenup pointed out she deserves better than a mini-14 [:D][;)][:I]

Funny you say that, before the Hi-cap ban a friend gave me a 30 rnd clip to go with the scope as a joke[:D]

I had to get the long sun shade for it, Most of the time I don't get to the range till late in the afternoon and the glare is so bad at times I cant see worth a darn.
