tapping yer brains........
ok guys...here's a quandry for ya to ponder.
my girl is ex-army. she's used to the good ole m-16....
now i know that the ar-15s are like the best civilian version, and believe me, i'd love to get her one but $$$ is like a big problem. so, i pose you all this: what would be a good rifle to get her? there are no wrong answers as this is yalls opinions, which haven't let me down yet. she's looked through the shooters bible and likes the sleek looks of the remingtons. was thinking about one in a .243...wha'd yall think?

Mini 14. I'm a big fan, and it shoots the 5.56/.223.

cubs...we actually have looked at those exact ones. 0 -
btw...shes actually sitting here beside me for once. finally got her interested in looking at gb forums and stuff.[8D] 0 -
...Doug and I will be bashed for it, but I like the mini also. I don't have mine anymore, but I do have a DPMS AR-15. In my experience, the vote for reliability and accuracy go to the mini, and mine was an old 180 series that get bashed the most. 0 -
bm...that would be sweet...buut how would you put that together? i'm mechanical and good at jigsaw puzzles but...wow! 0 -

who, me? jigsaw puzzle? they sell assembled uppers and lowers, even matched if you want, just get those... then all's you need is a buttstock. stick it together. easy.
er, well, need a barrel on the upper. might wanna call them about that.0 -
pickenup....you are an evil, evil man. [;)] 0 -

Other options...

The 7.62x39 ammo will be much more common than the 5.45x39 round.
You'll have just as much fun with an AK as an AR. Cheaper to boot.
Spend the $320 on the AK, then the remaining 180 on a couple thousand rounds of ammo.[;)]0 -
cubs...she's like laffing and all. said " i'd have too much fun"

That's the point, isn't it?[:p]
With an AR you're said to need a whole parts kit, firing pins, extractors, etc.
An AK? You just slap a magazine in it and pull the trigger, they just don't break.0 -
cubs...i'd have to figure away around the gun ban here in columbus tho. 0 -
If you arent going with the AR15 get a Ruger mini 14. Plenty of extras down the road! 0 -
My vote: Remington model 7 in the .243 cal. light, accurate, great resale if she no likey. Zumbo says we arent supposed to use assult rifles.[:D]

Haven't shot the new ones yet, but the the new mini-14's are waaay more accurate than the older models according to the gun rags.
But as Pickenup pointed out she deserves better than a mini-14 [:D][;)][:I]
