New seller question
Never sold online before; but, I'm planning on listing a handgun within 2-3 weeks. Just trying to get all "my ducks in a row" before I list.
I thought when you sell a handgun---the buyer's FFL dealer was supposed to send a signed copy of his license to the seller's FFL dealer; however, in GB's "How to Sell" it state's:
"If the item was a firearm, remind the buyer that he must send you a copy of his transfer dealer's FFL license, signed in blue or red ink."
Is it supposed to be mailed to the seller or the seller's FFL dealer?

I just sold a Barrett MRAD yesterday morning. I am a new seller. I sent an email right away to the buyer and haven't heard back from him yet. What is the standard timeframe for him to contact me? Is it 5 days? Thank you! 0 -

From what I know if you are not your own operating FFL you will need to do the following. [different states may require additional liscences, but this is they way from what you are asking]
Correct me if I'm wrong guys but I think it may go something like this.
Assuming neither party has an FFL:
1. You sell a gun (smith, colt, FNH, ect...) and agree to price.
2. The buyer sends you his payment to you; and his transfer dealers FFL to the dealer you will ship from.
3. You transfer the said gun to your local FFL dealer for shipping.
4. your dealer ships to his dealer.
5. Necessary paperwork is filled out on his end to make the said gun pruchase his.
6. You both leave positive feedback.
7. You have a beer.
I would contact your local DOJ, atf, or sheriffs office to make sure before you ship anything out. Many states have different rules, and its better to be on the safe side.0 -

In MOST states, when you are selling a handgun, and it is not face-to-face (going to another state) you will need to ship it TO a FFL in that state. FEDERAL law does not require that YOU be a FFL to ship by FedX or UPs (you must be a FFL to send by US Mail) SOME FFLs will not receive from a non-FFL, and a few states vary in their laws. So, you get the FFL from the receiving dealer, ship to that dealer at that address. Only when the receiving FFL requires it, or the receiving STATE requires it, do you need to take it TO a FFL to ship. If you need to do that, take the FFL copy and the handgun to your FFL, who will then transfer it, (probably charge you for that) and then ship it to receiving FFL. Thoroughly confused now?[:p] 0
